What is the difference between nylon sewing thread and fly thread?

Hello guest, sewing thread is much weaker than fly tying thread for starters and will snap and any given time, not good when your tying in wings etc, their are uses for sewing thread like ribbing your flies and bodies on some flies

Also fly tying thread is waxed most times. It is also made of different materials than sewing thread which is mostly cotton.

The "05" Summer issue of the Fly Tyer magazine has a real interesting article regarding the Fly Tying industry adopting new thread standards.
