Re: how to make a lipless swimbait?

man, you make swimbaits as good as jerry rago, and did you just glue the picture on to the bait? or did you use the tissue foil technique?

Re: how to make a lipless swimbait?

I use an old typewriter paper called " eatons corrasable bond" and spray on adhesive.

You dont have to buy the whole sheet, they have a partial sheet that you can have them cut you a piece off of.

regular printer paper can expand if you dont totally saturate it with epoxy, I've never tried the tissue/foil thing, but I wanna try the printing on fabric backed with freezer paper technique.

oh, how much do you think my bait will weigh? But, I need to know how to weight my bait, without cutting it in half.

Re: how to make a lipless swimbait?

I just go ahead and make my bait, put it together hooks and all, then i worry about weighting it. if you find you have a section that doesnt have enough room for a lead weight, then use tungston worm weights .

Re: how to make a lipless swimbait?

He means he makes his lure, then float tests it and hangs weight on it until it sits in the water the way he wants, then he drills holes in the lure and adds the weight to the lure. There really is no way to get around either drilling holes in the lure or making the lure in halves to get the right amount of ballast in it. You don't have to cut a lure in half, however, to do it that way. Take two boards that are each roughly half the thickness of what you want the finished lure to be, stack them, then cut out your lure outline. Seperate the halves, put in weight and hook hangers or thru-wire, glue and clamp, then carve to final shape and seal the lure.

Re: how to make a lipless swimbait?

oh, can you just drill through the bait, and use eyescrews as hook hangers?
