yeah, a lot of guys make them that way. Just be careful of using screw eyes in soft woods such as balsa because they MAY pull out.

I think guys use screw eyes in basswood. I haven't made one with screw eyes, so I am not sure what the preferred methods are, but it seems alot of guys drill holes, fill with epoxy and shove the screw eye in instead of just screwing the eyes. Like I said, I don't use this method, so maybe someone who does could chime in, or you could use the search function and search for other methods.

I epoxy my screw eyes in basswood, but with expanded pvc I just screw them in without pilot holes or epoxy.

i hae carved out my body then split it and make a wire form to inlay inside of bait then epoxy the two half together on the softer woods. works very well
