I am new to making lures and recently found the wonderful world of Tackleunderground.com, I would to thank everyone for the great ideas. I am running into problems with the topcoat. After several uses the epoxy becomes soft and peels off. I am not sure if this is due to the akalinity of the water I am fishing or if I am doing something wrong. Please help!

What brand of epoxy, and are you SURE that you are getting the proper mix ratio and mixing?
Something sure is wrong. Epoxy is nearly as hard as glass and I think DT is on the right track the mix volumes are critical if you dont take care with accurate measurement chances are things will go wrong. Also are you preparing everything right ?? Make sure there are no contaminants in the mix via the mixing vessel or tools and also make sure the lure surface is clean. If all that does not work try another brand of epoxy.
