top water baits

hi guys, rookie needs some more help please!!, just found out a buddy has a small lathe and would like to try some top water baits, does any one have any plans for poppers,chuggers, spooks or high rollers that they would be willing to share, where to place weight ,how to do the through wire on a roller etc, what types of wood do you use? do you use round stock or square stock to start from? i did check the tutorials ,but i am still vauge on the weight placements, sizes etc, thanxs for any help, Rob

I can only help you on the weight placements...

popper/chugger usually between the mouth and 1st hookhanger
Pencil (zara type) towards or as close to the rear as posible

Note: both placements above are on the underside of the lure!

High rollers are tricky...they actually have the rear hook hanger screw holding a metal bead there for the weight...I personally haven't found a metal bead with the right width hole to get a 1" s.s. screweye through it...

Take a correct size brass bead and clamp it well and drill the hole with a dremel . I made a bunch this way .
