To groove or not to groove

Guys,

Have any of you tried putting grooves into your lures? Heres a pic of a Norman crankbait for sale on ebay? Just curious if the grooves provide any added bonus besides making the lure look cool.

Thanks.

Groove baits

Groove on man!!!!!!!!! Thats the kinda of stuff I like
to do, the unusual.
For example, I have a bait, topwater, covered with real
rattlesnake skin.

On second thought T have used grooved baits, the rick clunn ones from bass pro. Cought fish on them too.
PS jwfflipper, they aren't made primarily for smallmouth, just bass in general.

I read something about this a while back...Lures have a signature(or feeling they give off)as they move through the water. The thought was that bass a being pressured and not responding to all the known signatures coming through the water.
The grooves in the bait change the signature,so the bass respond better.I don't know if it works or not...But,I do think thats why the baits we build work so much better!!!..Nathan
