Re: DIY fluid bed?

just rip it in half use the 4x8 side lay it flat on the coupling and shove the pipe in. Cut the excess off with a razer bade. On the ABS being better it isnt works the same just cheaper! It isnt pressure rated like PVC just drain pipe. On the aquarium pump one with two ports is enough for a 2" fluid bed. Use a tee to connect the to sides if there isnt enough air. If you get a bigger pump you might be able to run two fluid beds on one pump. PS dayooper on this site makes a good fluid bed that every one loves. I dont know him but he is regarded highly on this site. That tells the story for me! always helps. also he sells powder paint.

Re: DIY fluid bed?

Thanks very much. I'll give it a try and I'll see if I can aggravate myself.

Re: DIY fluid bed?

OK, Built one this weekend and it worked like gangbusters. The paper bag membrane works very well. I also used male and female threaded adapters to hold it in place as recommended elsewhere on here.

I had a double discharge type air pump and simply tee'd the lines together to a surplus ice maker water valve which worked well to modulate air flow.

I glued the bottom cap onto a 2X3 reducing coupling for a stable base.

Overall, very satisfied and I want to thank you guys for the help and guidance.

Best regards all.

Re: DIY fluid bed?

I still can't find the base material for the fluid beds. I tried to order porous polypropylene from Small Parts.com and they discontinued it. Does anyone know where to get this stuff? I want to be able to change colors quickly and use just a couple bases. Paper is a hassle when your doing tons of jigs!

Thanks
