I modified these needle nose pliers to open split rings and to form wire loops, but now I use them mainly for pulling castings that stick to molds.
Using a propane torch, I heated one tip red hot and hammered it against an anvil to form a 90* rough "tooth". I ground the tooth to shape, the other tip was ground shorter and round.
