Saltwater Drop shot hooks

I'm looking for some of the new standout hooks for dropshotting but I need them to be heavier for saltwater fishing. The ones I've seen look like they would be straightened by a decent sized striper. This is an example of what I want only heavier http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/dropshot-hooks/861117.aspx

Re: Saltwater Drop shot hooks

Rhahn427,The Daichi ones are too light and too small.Their biggest hook in this style appears to be a 1 which is a bit smaller than a 1/0 so it is indeed a fairly small hook. They will certainly hook alright but being that small they will not hold and with that size only rip the lips on saltwater fish. I generally fish with 3/0 and 4/0 myself going up to 8/0. The concept is good and would work well with dropshotting but as you and I both say they need to be made in bigger sizes and stronger wire. I tracked down the designer the other day and sent him an email but have not heard back. I have looked at the design myself and believe it could be improved on a bit. Its a pity that Gamakatsu or Owner both dont make them as I imagine and believe they could do an excellent job of them. Keep going and if you find someone who does make something like this let me know. David

Re: Saltwater Drop shot hooks

Hey Thanks David .......... I will let you know if I find something and of course lie me know if you find something. Lately I saw some popper hooks and I wonder if they are the same thing as the dropshot hooks and if not what the differences are.

I haven't investigated further if they make them in heavier gauge wire or larger sizes but it looked interesting

Thanks

Rick
