Stainless Snap Hooks

I was just doing something simple. I want to make a bunch of semi custom culling floats for Christmas presents for some of my fishing buddies. I figured to use some crank bait bodies as float and attach them to the snap hooks with some super heavy mono with crimp sleeves at each end to form a loop.

Anyway, the one part I am having some trouble finding is the snap hooks. I want them to be stainless because a lot of guys forget and leave their floats in the livewell (including me) and the galvanized hooks will rust pretty bad if that happens.

Re: Stainless Snap Hooks

You can try Rosco or American Fishing Wire for snaps but if your using a snap in the fish's jaw I think you'd have to call them to see how big they go.

Thanks. They both had on-line contact information. I dropped them each an e-mail.

Re: Stainless Snap Hooks

Well, I gave up. I just bought a bunch of chain stringers with stainless hooks to disassemble for the hooks.

Sportsman's Guide had the Luhr Jensen one for 13.50 with ten snaphooks. That's a bit pricey at a buck thrity five per hook, but this is just a one time project anyway.

Re: Stainless Snap Hooks

So much for that. Back ordered then cancelled. Maybe I'll wander by one of the welding shops and se what they have in the way of stainless wire to make my own.
