Mark,
I have noticed you are a swimbait building type of guy and was hoping for some of your insight. I have made a bait that is similar to one in the link below. It was simply rough cut and really thrown together without much attention to detail. Needless to say it is not a good looking bait at all, but is has a nice "S" swimming motion. Roughly 8 inches, 3/4 thick, flat sides, rounded over back and belly, and three joints. I get excited at the movement and really set out to put some time into a bait. Make one of similar size but totally symetrical with five joints and it actually looks like a fish but it just runs straight back to me in the water with absolutly no wiggle. I have read every post that talks about lipless swimbaits and the consensus seems to be that no one really knows the real in's and out's of these baits. I am going to try and post some picks of an entirely new design I am on the way to test now and hope some can give some feedback. In the mean time would you mind sharing any tips that might help reduce the learning curve.. If I remember correctly I believe you live somewhere in SoCal. I am in Ontario, CA and fish primarily for calico bass and am trying to develop baits that mimic grunion, smelt, and mackeral.
