This is quite a large fly tied on a heavy wet fly hook size 14/12. The body is Pearsalls primrose silk and is dubbed extremely lightly with mole fur, it is important that the dubbin is very light indeed so as the primrose silk 'shines' through the dubbin. Also note how short the body is, as with a lot of traditional North Country patterns the bodies are usually short. There is no thorax on this fly either. The hackle is tied in by the tip not the stork, it is a very delicate tie and cannot be attempted in a heavy handed manner however once the dubbin and hackle tying have been mastered it is a simple and quick fly to produce and the best thing of all it works a treat.
