I have a Lamiglas rod that has its reel seat come loose from the rod blank. With a reel seated, the reel will turn to the left about 30 degrees from center of the rod shaft. Need advice on what fixes might be available to remedy this. Know nothing about rod construction so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I buy alot of used old worn tackle and have never fixed that problem with glues or resin, but i have put black cloth tape wrapped over the entire reel seat, the reel post itself, and part of the blank. I have many custom rods that have cut foam inserts that fit my hands perfectly but look strange. After i get the right feel i usually wrap breathable tennis racket tape over the whole thing for added comfort. My friends laugh at them until i let em feel what a good grip is really like then they ask me to do theirs. Good luck, you may have a great rod to experiment on.

A slower setting epoxy can be injected into some holes.

Drill a few holes on the under side of the reel seat where the reel foot sits. Mix up some slow cure epoxy and load the syringe. Take your time and inject the epoxy into the holes. Rotate the rod a quarter or half turn every 15 minutes or to keep the epoxy from settling in one spot.

After that sets, make sure you seal up your holes with another batch of epoxy.

There is typically some air space between the seat and rod blank. But every company assembles differently. Its hard to know where that air space is going to be.

Mattman was on the money as I have done the very same thing and that puppy(reel-seat) is locked tighter than a vault at Fort Knox. Plus you end up with a clean,finished look.
Air-Space location: try tapping the reel seat. Slight sound difference can be detected.

I have repaired a few rods with similar issues. If you are not concerned with the foregrip, you could remove it with a utlity knife and pliers carefully. This would allow you to move the reel seat forward or towards the tip of the rod, thus allowing you to apply rod bond or another epoxy to the now exposed portion of the rod blank where the reel seat is supposed to be. This has worked well for me in the past. Not only do you get a fully epoxied seat, but you loose weight on the rod, and gain sensitivity by being able to touch the blank ahead of the reel seat while palming your reel. Just a thought...
