Pfluger President question

Does anyone know what the trick is to get the handle and handle-side side plate off of a Pfluger President? I need to service mine and I can't seem to get that side off. Thanks.

Re: Pfluger President question

After removing the handle (reverse) You then unscrew the side screws and then locate the screw at the base of the reel unscrew it and remove the base, this will exspose the last scew remove it and service

Re: Pfluger President question

So are you saying that you just turn the handle in reverse and it will unscrew? I tried that but it didn't come off and was afraid of breaking something. Maybe it is a little tighter than I thought. Thanks.

Re: Pfluger President question

I appreciate it. I guess I'll have to try it again. I torqued down on it pretty hard this morning and it didn't budge. Thanks again.

Re: Pfluger President question

Usually on Plueger reels you have to crank the drag down all the way and then push it towards the reel body then turn the handle backwards. The Johnny Morris signature reel are the same way.
