glitter

I want to start making hand-pours. I like 3-4 inch baits. I'm wondering what size glitter/fleck to use. I see in the lurecraft catalog they have a few different sizes. I'm not sure what size to get. Any suggestions? I'm looking at a 4" zoom meathead and trying to figure out what size fleck it has in it.

Need to know which color/colors of the meathead you're looking at. Looks like a huge variety of flake there. For starters, it appears most of the meatheads have large (.062) black flake with various combinations of small and medium flake mixed in.

Is there any place else other than LC to get glitter? I'm getting fed up dealing with them. MF has .062 but in limited colors unless you order a massive amount. .035 is about two bucks more expensive than LC for 1/2 lb and 1 lb. Dye is much more expensive through MF.

Just my experience and it is limited as I have only ordered from MF and Lurecraft. I have never had a problem with MF as far as color goes but cant say the same for lurecraft. As for glitter I use both companies but prefer MF and go to lurecraft for what MF does not have.

Also something I noticed is the glitter shrinks when melting (or I am getting old and my eyesight is getting bad) I add it as late in the melting as possible.

Chirmy, now that you mention it, I've noticed the same problem.
One other thing I didn't mention about Dave from Lurecraft is that the orders are frequently wrong and in their favor. I recently ordered 4 dyes in the 1 oz. size and received a fifth that I already had and was charged for. I only asked Dave a question about how come the motor oil that I already had wasn't irridescent.

I received and was charged for 2 oz. for every color even though I quoted him the A at the end of each number which represented the 1 oz. size.

I guarentee that when I call back this pm I'll get the same answer as the woman in his office gave me- send it all back (at my expense) and we'll credit you for another order. I wish Delmart would start selling color and flakes along with the current supply of Calhoun plastic. I know all of us would give him all our business, even if he was a little higher than LC. He would get my testimonial.

Some of the guys have mentioned Jan's Netcraft (I think?) for glitter and other additives. I've never tried them, but I hear they are pretty reasonable. Does anyone have any info. on them.....website or otherwise?

Lurecraft has its problems, thats for sure. We got into the whole send it back for credit argument over some bags awhile back, and they always win. We also ordered a pint of black grape and a pint of purple. Well they are labeled correctly but both contained black grape Dont know how the heck that happened, but I am sure we will be stuck with it. Oh well guess we will run a sale on Junebug

I have also notice the flake shrinking, or I think its really curling from the heat. Dont see any way to avoid it. :

To my recollection, Zoom mixes sizes of flake on most of thier colors. It will take some trial and error to match any one color perfectly. Good Luck though.

Hey Al,
I know another company that sells flake called polycryle (sp??) I will see if I can find the info on them. I have never actually used them because they are as expensive as lure craft, but with the service I am getting it may be time to switch. I do recall they had several sizes and some different colors.
