Poured my first few batches

I poured for the first time the other night First batch was way to soft and tacky for my licking as I was trying to get very close to a senko. The second was better because I mixed the plastic much better although it was full of bubbles. It also seems like in order to get a senko like feel you have to back off the softener a bit and go with a bit more salt. I was realitivly pleased with the third batch but I will have to see how they work on the water?? I would love to hear any other suggestions on making the stick baits even better. I am using Del-mart mold and calhoun plastic which both seem to be good products. Thanks for the feedback

Re: Poured my first few batches

Let the plastic set after 2 minutes in the micro or so with out stirring, this should cut down on bubbles alot.

Re: Poured my first few batches

Make sure your not mixing with a wooden stick. If you search the site or talk to Del you can find out what was causing bubbles, I believe they found it to be something in the microwave.

For our sticks we use:
1 cup lc 536
1/8 cup of salt
around 25 drops of lc color
20 drops of lc scent
couple pinches of glitter

Hope this helps...Jeff

Do you get the Senko shimmy with your recipe? I never poured them before.

Thanks jmik
I will have to try it. You saved me a bunch of money because I would have had to try it until I got it right. I just started pouring a few days ago so I am pretty excited about this. I am going to get a senko mold pretty soon. Thanks again I really appreciate it.

Not a problem.... I don't miss those days of paying $7.00 a pack at all. Seems like you have got the bug, before you know it you will have more materials and molds then you can fit on a work bench .

Unfortunately my wife is not as excited as I am although she thinks its pretty neat to make your own stuff. She know when I get into something I hit the ground running so she is a little scared I think. LOL I told her since I am into so many thing it makes Christmas shopping easy, but she dont buy my lines. I just started pourning a few days ago and have 11 POP molds already. I am learing as I go. I made a few 4" worm molds using round baits and they did not work out well. The tail ends of the bait were too thin so I had to scrap them. We live and learn I guess. Again thanks for your help. I will probably order a Senko mold next week.

Trust me, if you have the bug as bad as we do, one mold will not be near enough! Good luck!
