Cthulhu - I buy Ultracal30 from the same place. Do you know how Hydrostone compares to Ultracal?

Ultracal is a bit weaker than Hydrostone and more prone to chipping or wear. It's still a much better option than POP, but I tend to be a bit rough on my tools and materials and with Hydrostone I have even dropped molds on a concrete floor (but not from very high) and not had them shatter or crack. Still, I don't recommend doing that!

How about detail - Does the Hydrostone capture more detail?

Hydrostone captures exceptional detail.
It's used in life-casting and forensic work since it's able to replicate fingerprints, sweat pores, and micro-details like that. So bait-making is perfectly suited to its characteristics.

Here's a link to where I get mine: Plaster.com - HYDRO-STONE® - One of the hardest and strongest of all gypsum cements
How much is shipping on the big Bucket (50lb) of Hydrostone?
