Howdy all! My first post, as I am a newcomer to this forum.

Best plastic...I like Lurecraft although it does seperate and if you're not careful to shake it up first the worms will not have optimal texture. I also agree with the fact that their customer service is great

From my limited experience, MF is my choice. I have only ever used Lurecraft and MF. I never need to add softner and my baits hold together extremely well. Very little shaking is necessary as the plastisol doesn't settle out. Pop

I used Calhoun's until recently and have tried plastisol from the many manufacturers.

M-F super soft is superior to all other products presently on the market. It "cooks" quicker, takes the heat great and most af all, I get super soft baits everytime.

It does not "settle out" like the other plastisol products so there is no extra time or detail needed when preparing for bait making.

As far as the price goes, maybe everbody should look again at M-F. Due to drastic differences in the costs of shipping, a 5 gallon container (square cube with a nice faucet on it!!!) actually cost me a few bucks LESS than Calhouns 5 gallon bucket.

Request a sample of the other plastisols on the market and test them for yourself. If a manufacturer/supplier won't send you at least a quart to test, then you probably do not want their product anyway..

M-F Super soft for me!!!!

Jim

At this point I have only tried calhoun's plastic. While the pouring and low-burn factors are a plus, the odor/taste factor is a major, major minus..Should get some scents in tomorrow to help cover up that plastic smell...Out of the 5(?) plastics listed on the poll..Which one smells the least?

PLASTIC SURVEY

I PERSONALLY USE M-F PLASTIC MOST OFTEN I HAVE TRYED DALES PRODUCT AND MY APPENION IS THAT DALES PLASTIC IS BETTER IF HEATED IN THE MICROWAVE ,WHEN M-F HEATS BEST IN A PRODUCTION POT OR OVER A HOT PLATE , I DO FIND I POUR BETTER SINKO'S WITH DALES , BUT POUR BETTER DROP SHOT WORMS WITH M-F

Calhoun was the plastic that we began with, now I have five gallons of senkos that I can drill out and send to bic for pens, there hard as a rock for people that don't get that. Recentely we tried MF and Lurecraft. WOW, what a huge difference. The bad thing is all three plastics are sold by great people.
In my opinion:

Calhoun - Smokes alot when cooking, gives off a oily vapor (exhaust fans are dripping the stuff), pours like cream corn, can't poor a cup of white and keep color consistent throughout.

MF- Pours great, strong, but has a strong smell to it when cooking.

Lurecraft - Pours great, strong, minimal smoking, try using the lurecraft scents with plastic. Best I have used so far by far......

I used to get pre-mixed colors, plastisol-soft with metal flake from Southern Plastics in Eufaula, Alabama. Haven't done any pouring in years so don't know if they are even still there. It did require stirring in the bucket prior to use and worked fine for microwave.

Did a search and came up with this...
Southern Plastics, Inc

Southern Plastics, Inc. is one of the largest soft plastic injection operations in the world. Our primary products are soft plastic fishing lures such as worms, shad, crawfish, jerkbaits, grubs, etc. These items are available in multiple sizes for both fresh and saltwater fishing.
Phone Number: (334) 687-5758

Used to get five gallons for $75...probably more expensive now.

Re: 'Best' Plastic

I have 536.502.500 from LC the 536 is to soft for my taste some of the i people that use my bait complanied that they could get more use out of a nightcrawler than my 5 and 7 inch shads so i started using a mix of half and half 502 and 536 for jerk baits and trick worms frogs
they love it get good use out of there baits. As far as i can tell LC if you weigh out all the pro and cons is still the best pour for you buck

Re: 'Best' Plastic

I now use MF super soft exclusively, no drills to mix it, no horrible smells. I have tried calhouns and must say, I don't think I would ever go back. My baits come out great and customers always compliment me on the texture and colors
