Mike its pretty much a public site, there are no secrets on this site, if there was people wouldnt post them. If they posted them they obviously wouldnt be a secret now would they.
if it wasnt open to the public then you would have to be a member to see the topics.
read what you can, dont worry about asking the same question twice( everyone has done it) if you have something to share great if you dont and just want to read great too. if there is something you want to know ask someone will answer you, might take a while but they will do it.
you other guys WOW I am kinda shocked at the responce you gave this guy. Maybe he didnt get his words right but you make this site look like a little click.
1st of all he actually registered and posted, some dont. does that make them bad? maybe its due to the responces like you given this poor guy, why others wont sign up or chat.
BTW that recipe section was put on there to share, if I remember correctly. if it has you guys so upset where lurkers can see it maybe you should ask red to hide it from lurkers.
Everyone has got to start somewhere and many who have poured for a short time, after having been here for a few months, may feel they have nothing to contribute of interest. If 310 had posted a problem pouring or molding, most of us would have contributed 10 recommendations, no questions asked.
But I do agree with EW about someone coming on board and trying to get others to contribute new ideas when they have not participated at all.
None of us minds sharing new discoveries with fellow lurecrafters and take pride in the final product, but coming up with new ideas is not something that occurs all that often.
The TU gallery has hundreds of pictures of all types of lures to get ideas from and is a great place to browse. The archive of tutorials is also a good place to get specific info and Del's site has an excellent recipe book for basic color combos and a forum where Del will answer any questions.
There are few sites that have 10 new posts per day and since this is a specialty how-to site, not as active, especially in the summer months when everyone is out fishing.
I'll admit I took the post a little wrong also. I also remember when I first started pouring and what a mess it was.
Having recipes is great but you really need to be able to pour well before any colors really matter. Once you start pouring, you will want to figure out your own recipes anyway and will just use a few from the cookbook.
Have fun, good luck and remember "The only dumb question is the question not asked!!"
Mike,
This place reminds me of the lyrics of a 1950's ditty called "It's a Quiet Place Here in Crossbone County." The punch line goes something like "They may shoot you dead, but they're likeable guys."
Eric,
Sometimes someone who is not an "expert" will look at a problem and be totally unencumbered by knowledge, and not "know" what won't work. This person is the one most likely to come up with a novel solution. We've seen it many times here on the board. That's what makes it so much fun, and so profitable to be here.
That is why I keep coming back to this sight. I thirst for knowledge and Idea's. I have come up with a few idea's and sights. When some spare time, (like at 4am) when I have time to ponder and gather my thoughts and Pictures. I will be looking for opinions and comment.
thanks for the feed back
Mike
I just got home from college. As soon as I find where I packed my digital camera and wires I'll upload some pics of the stuff I'm making.
Also, once it stops raining (we're working on 6 days straight and they're calling for another week of it here in PA) and the lakes clear up a little I'm going to go test some new stuff. If I like my results I'll share what I did (I don't really want to post stuff and find out that it doesn't work very well).
