Question Lurecraft special pouring cups

I am wondering if you guys think that these things are helpful for a beginner. I am planning to use the Pyrex / Microwave technique for heating the plastic and then transferring the plastic to the pouring cup for filling my molds.

Is the extra step worth the effort?

What is the difference between the two pouring cups? The part numbers are 2x102A (10% discount if you order 5) and 2x102B (no discount).

Does anyone have a picture that they can post so I can get an idea of the size of the cups?

Thanks,

James

One of the cups is a left hand pour and the other is for right handed pours. You would also need a hot plate if you want to use them. I'd just practice with the pyrex it doesn't take very long to get good at pouring.

Re: Lurecraft special pouring cups

I use them for the fine detail work when pouring 3 and four color baits.

The difference is one is right handed and the other is left handed. You will need a hotplate for the cups; do not put them in the micro.

I didn't know that Bigbass; I've had mine for about 10 years and haven't looked at them in the cataloge since. Thanks.

If you are talking about the microwavable pouring cups that LC sells. All it is is a glass (pyrex?) measuring cup. The brand is Anchor. Walmart sells the exact same brand in several different sizes. I bought a couple from Walmart that are a little smaller than the ones I got from LC and love them. The spout is smaller and it makes it easier to pour (at least for me).

Re: Lurecraft special pouring cups

I was referring to the pouring pans not the pyrex style , these pans make pouring swirls easier by pouring with both at the same time , these pans need to be on a hot plate.

Re: Lurecraft special pouring cups

I have found that when using the pans to heat the plastic,if I lightly spray the inside of the pan with garlic Pam type spray, then remove the excess with a paper towel it seems to help to keep the mess to a minimum,I forever have to keep removing the small drip,at the pour spout with a piece of cool plastic.I have always been a bit messy.

Re: Lurecraft special pouring cups

As a "rule of thumb" I never fill my pans, pots or pyrex more that 1/2 full to pour into a one piece mold. A 2 piece, like a stick mold, is not so touchy.
