I have been making a few of my own baits for a couple of years now, and have had an ongoing problem that I cannot figure out on my own.
I have used "Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty" and plaster of paris for molds - with either one, I tend to get bubbles in my baits. Not a bunch of bubbles (porous looking), just one or two big ones. One of my craw molds gets a big bubble in the head every time. I suspect it may have something to do with the shape of the bait funneling heat and causing bubbles, because there doesn't seem to be bubbles in my pot. I have also had this happen a lot with my bigger worm molds...
I am hoping someone might have experienced this before and figured out a way to avoid it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nil is correct! Be sure to re-coat around the inside upper edges of your mold cavities. that is where mine always seems to have a bubble generating area!!! I guess the sealer runs downward sand leaves a void!!!
