Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

It says my message must be at least one character (which it most definitely is). Then I lose my post.

Suggestions on what the culprit may be? (I'm posting from work right now)

I can post to other websites just fine.

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

Pizza,
The TU Site Admin, redg8r, is who can likely provide you a solution. It could be alot of things... browser setting, windows configuration, a firewall setting, who knows what else. There is a new function on the lower left Menu Bar at the top of the page called, "HelpCenter", that would be the best place to seek assistance or you might be temped to take the advice of a no longer current sys admin like me who can sound convincing, but doesn't have access to the site admin tools to really see what is in the loggs, or access to tech support, or is current on this software release.

Only trust your PC to a trained, highly skilled professional like redg8r, because there are to many wantabes that can start you into a downward spiral of bigger and bigger PC problems...

Just another tip from your ole Uncle Spike,

I still can only post when I am at work. If anyone has any ideas of what the culprit may be I'm all ears. Thanks.

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

I need to know the type of web browser you are using & what version of the browser.

Those are usually located under the "Help" tab at the top of your browser under a selection usually named "About X" X being your browser.

I also need to know the operating system (Vista/XP/OSX, etc

I would normally suspect a TU misconfigured account, as the error you are getting is generated here from TU, as we require at least one charachter to be entered to submit a post.

But you admit the issue only hapens on your Home PC, which I'll investigate for you.

Email or PM me directly (we have spoke via email prior to this so you have my email) Plz dont post the above requested info publicly here.

Sorry for your trouble.
Jerry

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

The problem is fixed. I had been using FF for a while until a month or two ago when I reinstalled windows on my computer. Glad to get back using it. Thanks!

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

So using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox fixed your problem?
Hate to see you go back over to the darkside

Did you try updating FF to the latest version?

Regardless, glad its working for you.

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

sorry I was unclear (and sorry for bringing this up publicly too, BTW, my bad).

To make a long story short. Here's what happened.

Had a Sony Vaio Laptop Running Firefox. Never a problem.

Left Vaio in hot car for a day.

Bye Bye Vaio (about 2 months ago).

Got a 5 year old HP laptop that was slow as heck and the HD was nearly full.

Reinstalled windows which cleared everything off the harddrive(clean slate, runs fast now).

Never bothered installing FF on this HP, used IE instead (I figured to keep things simple, I'd use it "until it pissed me off like most micros*#t" products do."

When I red your response, you mention browsers so I figured this would be a good time to dump the IE and see if FF would fix the problem.

It did.

Thanks again for your help!

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

Just for the record, all 3 of our (my wife and I) computers have both IE and FireFox loaded; but the FireFox and several of their add-ons usually gets the most use. Happy to hear it's up and running for you.

Re: Can't post to this site from my home computer?!?!

Thanks for posting Pizza. Wow! never considered a hot car as a problem before. Living in a hot country, I would probably eventually been bitten by that one. This is what it is all about, tell people about your mistakes. Between you and Mark, you have probably saved others a lot of hassle.

I've only heard good things about FF and bad things about IE. I guess I should give FireFox a try. I did use it in an internet cafe last week, it doesn't look much different to IE, it even has the tabs feature for multiple pages.

Glad your problem was resolved.
