Vodka I see it happen all the time. Like when I went in just now it showed you in there but as I entered it logged you out.I have tried it by hitting the x and back on browser still does it .
The is an "X" button in the top right corner of the chatroom window to formally logout, but it isn't totally necessary. The header navigation & side navigation links should be displayed along with the chat window, navigation by any of those links will log you out of the chatroom.
What you are seeing on the left side of the site under "Who's chatting" is refreshed every 5 minutes, so if you see someone listed in that box, yet login yourself to find the room empty, or that user not in chat, then they logged out within the last five minutes.
This is done simply to preserve server resources, if the "who's chatting" box was to display "actual" real-time info, the script that pulls that info would have to run continuously, instead it executes every 5 minutes.
