Another website question

I've recently joined the TU web hosting, but I'm new to web page design. What is one of the first steps to getting a page published (to show on the internet) for example an "under construction" page? Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Starting from scratch, you'll need a good HTML editor, lemme recommend:

1st Page 2000
http://www.evrsoft.com
Ive used alot of editors & I keep coming back to this one.

Microsoft has "FrontPage" which alot of new learners like to use.
everyone using frontpage needs to have "frontpage extensions" installed on the server thier using, TU Hosting has FrontPage extensions available & can be installed upon request.

HTML can be created with something as simple as "Notepad" (it comes with your Windows PC) but you need to understand the coding involved, as notepad wont create the needed code for you, like HTML editors will.

Your Tu Hosting account has multiple programs in place that will create a website for you, PHPNuke, PostNuke, PHPWebsite, Xoops are all popular programs. its available to be automatically installed on your account. the button should be in your control panel under "Addon Scripts"
If you need more assistance, PM me, or use the support system on the right hand side of the site. & I'll get you up & runnin.

Heres a block of code, off the top of my head that will create a temporary "under construction page" for you:
Code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>BS Tackle ::www.bstackle.net:: Under Construction</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#CCCCCC">
<center>
<font color="#330099">
<h2>Coming Soon!
BS Tackle (bstackle.net)</h2>
</font>
</center>
</body>
</html>
Upload this to your "www" or "public_html" directory & name the file "index.html"

This will be the file shown when a visitor types in http://www.bstackle.net
