Does anyone know how to get in touch with Yahoo? I have been trying since last night to register my domain and upgrade my page, but I cant get past the info page. Just keeps going in a loop. Looked all over for a way to contact someone about this. Help?
Mike if you haven't gotten the domain registration to go thru don't pursue it buddy. That info page loop is all the help and support you will ever get from yahoo. Same with Tripod, Angelfire, Freewebs etc. Any site that offers free site building with the option to upgrade all seem to be the same. No support and some of them will jack the price to $1,500.00 when the years registration is up. Esentially "webjacking" your domain.
godaddy.com is just about the best deal on the web.
Thanks to everyone's help, I now have a webpage of sorts. It is still under construction (revision), but is located at www.gulfcharters.net. I registered my domain with ecomplanet and right now am using them to host my page.
I have to admit that I am not real happy with the resources available to me for editing my page. Tech support is OK, but slow. I am thinking of opening an account with godaddy and checking out their page building program. I am not talking about the "free" stuff, just the $5-$10 ones.
Does anyone have experience using their web page building program? Is it better than ecomplanet's?
I do have FrontPage, but the learning curve is rather large. I will learn it or another program eventually, but I'm so busy right now that learning a stand alone program before I complete a page is not possible.
cavu,
Im not sure if Jerry (redg8ter) has any spots left, but Im using TU hosting and Its been great. Use the contact button (top right). Jerry has replied very quickly to all of my questions. Plus you'll help support this site.
I have talked to Jerry about this and I think there is no space left at this time. I did send him another message refering to this thread. Hopefully someone will have some experience with the people I am working or hope to work with.
What a lot of companies will do is process you credit card info and not activate your account and will refuse to communicate with you until the transaction is complete. While this is going on you just assume it is some little glitch in their system. They are setting you up. They will get your $15.00 so imagine how much money they will make just of several thousand $15.00 amounts. This way they can make tons of money whether anyone actually makes a website or not.
(*Yaknowwhoo) will rob you blind. I once decided to try and build a website using (*yaknowwhoo's) site builder. Once i paid the activation fee things really got tricky. The way it is set up nce they get your credit card number they will not communicate with you for "x" amount of hours. Once you start building they will inform you it is a requirement that you to register a domain name with the registrar of (*yaknowwhoo's) choice for twice the amount of what anyone else would charge. This is when you decide whether to "bite the bullet" and go on with the program or to stop and sacrifice the $15.00 you just spent. Then they will add a "domain name maintenance fee" which doesnt really serve any practical purpose. Then the following year they will charge a domain name renewal fee that is once again twice the amount and another maintenance fee. All this and they will not give you a rock solid contract that you are the actual owner of the domain name.
You need to send an email to whoever you are using to build your website. The email needs to demand/request answers for the following type questions:
(1) What will be the exact dollar amount, nothing more and nothing less than the exact dollar amount, will it cost me to use your website building services for the first year of service?
(2) What will be the exact dollar amount, nothing more and nothing less that the exact dollar amount, will it cost me to continue to use your website building service for the second and any additional years of service?
(3) Will there be any additional maintenance fees concerning my domain name other than the exact dollar amounts as outlined in questions #1 and #2 mentioned above?
(4) Will there be any additional mantenance fees whatsoever other than those concerning my domain name? Such as any website maintenance fess not which have not been addressed and or included in questions #1 and #2.
(5) Can i register my domain name with the registrar of my personal choice and at any time will i be required to register my domain name with the registrar of your companies choice?
(6) At any time whatsoever while i am using your web design services will you be able to add any maintenence fees or assume control of or ownership of my domain name?
I sat down and emailed a list of similar questions to several comanies and was surprised at how many web site building service oriented companies that flat out refused to answer my questions. The only two that would answer my questions were ecomplanet.com and fortunecity.com. Foretunecity actually had a saleperson personally contact me via telephone and go down my list and answer each and every question thouroughly elaborating on each one of them.
Cavu I have teamed up with TU to give you guy?s great hosting plans. Cullin8s is currently using our services. He is doing his own design work. Just follow the link in my Sig to see what we offer. You can also get to Cullin8s site from there to see what can be done. Please feel free to ask me any questions that are not answered on the TU members hosting page. I made these packages just for you guys they aren?t offered to anybody else but TU members. Also feel free to contact Culli8s and ask him if he is happy with our service. I will be out of town till Sat noonish, but will respond ASAP to any questions you may have.
To answer these questions I can do that know.
(1) What will be the exact dollar amount, nothing more and nothing less than the exact dollar amount, will it cost me to use your website building services for the first year of service?
the price will never change what you see is what you pay this year and forever, unless you break service and return.
(2) What will be the exact dollar amount, nothing more and nothing less that the exact dollar amount, will it cost me to continue to use your website building service for the second and any additional years of service? same same as long as you don?t leave and return
(3) Will there be any additional maintenance fees concerning my domain name other than the exact dollar amounts as outlined in questions #1 and #2 mentioned above? Never if you design the pages. special design needs may incur extra costs. but most likely not. If by chance it does you will be notified b4 you pay. basic html design up to 7 pages is free with the big package.
(4) Will there be any additional maintenance fees whatsoever other than those concerning my domain name? Such as any website maintenance fess not which have not been addressed and or included in questions #1 and #2. NEVER
(5) Can I register my domain name with the registrar of my personal choice and at any time will I be required to register my domain name with the registrar of your companies? choice? [color=red]NO but it is preferred. you can register anywhere and the domain registration fee will be subtracted from the price[color]
(6) At any time whatsoever while I am using your web design services will you be able to add any maintenance fees or assume control of or ownership of my domain name? I do buy the domain names under my company name. But at no time is it mine you buy it it?s yours. if after a year you no longer want it I let it fall off of my service. I do not and will not hold domain names hostage. even if you want to register with me and host somewhere else that to is fine. I am working on a registering process to eliminate this so you do the registering through me and you hold all rights and access to the name. I am a small biz and processes like that take time and $$$
I hope this helps you and anyone else looking for web hosting services.
