Shopping carts

Os Commerce is very limited. So I am looking for a new one, anyone have any ideas?

If you have an idea on a shopping cart please post a link to a working cart.

These things are a royal pain in the butt, one will do half the stuff and the other will do the other half.
Trying to find something that will be more user friendly than os commerce

Oh I dont mind paying for a shopping cart either. Free ones scare me.

shopping cart

Hi delw
There are a lot of options for you out there depends on the money and time you wanna spend..
I have been selling online for a couple years now here are my experiances with the ones I have used .

Yahoo stores:
First shop I opened was on yahoo store fronts this was a few years ago so it may have changed some but it was a very basic storefront designed with templates and you would upload all your data and pics and you would need a merchant account also to accept credit card payments unless you wanna pay the paypal fees .. the looks of the site wasnt the best due to the template limitations at the time but you were auto included into yahoo shoppin network and it brings a tremendous amount of traffic and exposure .. price was $39.95 a month for the store front and $50 a month for a merchant account.

Securenetshop.com
This site has really nice template based storefronts that you can design and give your own feel to. included are all the bells and whistles ..ie flash intros and banners and such.
had a store front with them for a year and never had a problem had a alot of marketing info you can use such as refers and sites and the links people came to your site from ,, date and time and what pages were looked at the most etc.
never had a problem with this site and sales notifications were instant via email.
cost $39.95 per month

Monstercommerce
This is a top notch storefront site that is used by a lot of bigname companies and they are very pricey and I have not tried them ... if I had the resources and the traffic with sales to justify I would have definitly tried them as I have heard and read nothing but good things about monstercommerce.

I have also tried OS commerce and I did not care for it at all .. but a lot of people use it and that was just my view of it.

I now use php scripts for my store front that I host with my regular server and use paypal as credit card and payment gateway.
I have went from upwards of a $100 a month for hosting, storefront, and merchant account fees .
to only $9.00 a month for my hosting and what ever paypal fees are incurred.

Sorry for the long winded post I will end on this note.
If you have a product or service that is in demand ...
(by the way of which I own and believe you do)
and you anticipate heavy traffic and sales I would suggest SEcurenetshop and or Monstercommerce.... with a merchant account to handle credit card transactions ..... even tho paypal is huge and popular it is my experiance that some people are still leary and prefer to make there payment with out having to leave your site..

good luck to ya

Parz,
I own/lease my own server, So I am kinda looking for something I can put on that.

Ive started looking into x-cart.

Os isnt bad, but it has some issues. My first cart was interchange and it was awsum, its just at the time when I started using it it didnt have a paypal deal and I didnt know how to do php coding at that time. I went to use it again but they discontinued it and talking with my host he told me about some problems it had with c panel. He suggested x-cart.

Thanks
Delw

Shop Site is one. I havent had any first hand experience with it. It is WYSIWYG and you add everything real time and then it is added to the site. It is a feature that they offer with my hosting company but you pay a yearly fee for it
