what photo software to buy?

Can't spend the $$$ for Photoshop, but would like to be able to 'mirror' the original item. Just E-tex'd a pair of images printed on TRACING paper, not tissue paper. Put the image over some foil. Looks great. To just flip the paper over you get a faded image. Would really like a photo program with the mirror capability. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, from the computer illiterate Finn.

This program is free and has many of the capabilities that PS has. Don't forget to check out the list of available plugins for extra features.

software recs.

If you can afford it, there is no true substitute for Photoshop; however, since you already stated you can't...there are options:

First is to buy a used copy of Photoshop. You don't have to have the latest and greatest. You can get version 5 or 6 relatively cheap these days.

The second option I recommend to people is JASC software's PaintShop Pro. You can get this on Ebay for around $40 or so and it is very powerful.

Hope this helps!
