I just picked up some Sevenstrand uncoated wire in 135 lb. size to make some weedless spider jigs. It is a twisted stainless wire. I picked up mine at Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas also caries it. They make larger sizes so you can make one with a single weeedguard or make a double and use a smaller size wire. You will just need to experiment and see what works best.
I've looked (on the internet) at BPS & Cabelas for this seven strand uncoated wire and the best I could come up with was a short piece that was included on a King Mackeral bait rig. Can this wire be purchased by itself?
I've not seen this wire as yet but there is a picture at BPS of a crappie jig called 'Veg-E-Jig' made by Lindy that uses this wire as a weed guard. What size wire do you suppose is used for this jig?
BR, best I can tell it looks like a small wire (maybe 30-40lb) that has been untwisted. Most of this wire comes in seven wrapped strands. It looks like it should work provided it is stiff enough.
