Re: Whats the diff.

LOL, that tool is crazy. I can do a whip finish with my fingers no problemo. So mine will stay in it's slot taunting me.

10 years of tying flies and jigs, and I still that tool.

Sorry to hijack the thread.....NOW back to thread vs. wire. vs. rubber bands.

Re: Whats the diff.

FishinME,
I try to match the thread color to the lure color mostly red, black, brown and green. You can also try an upholstery shop, you might even get it bulk.

FishinMe do you guys got Hobby Lobby or a store that is all crafts. Hobby Lobby has a whole wall of thread in every color you could dream of.

Re: Whats the diff.

Oh yeah, we got em. I was just wondering what type of thread was being used. Do you guys find these craft store threads better or cheaper than what is in the luremaking catalogs?

Re: Whats the diff.

I would think they are because you don't have to pay the shipping. Unless its cheaper to have them sent to your house than drive to the store with the gas prices right now.

Re: Whats the diff.

Video on how to use the Matarelli Whip-finish Tool and two other methods. I learn from a similar video. Get the hang of using one....it's neat!

I don't know what happened. Somehow two links appear. The second one works!

Re: Whats the diff.

I love my whip tool! It did take a few tries and watching the videos, but I won't even bother trying to do it by hand. I use up to a 3 oz. jig.
