Hilts VS Do-it Molds

Are Hilts molds molds any better than a do-it mold? I have may try my luck with a Hilts instead of a do-it and was wondering if it would be any better for a 5/8 oz jig. Ryan

Re: Hilts VS Do-it Molds

Ryan,
I have both and they both produce a very good product. Most Hilts molds are single cavity molds amd you do have the option of weedless or not. I like the Hilts bullet lead head as the back of the head is flat and the soft plastics fit flush against it. One other thing is that the Hilts molds do not take base hole pins.

Re: Hilts VS Do-it Molds

I have 20 some molds, and only 2 are Hilts, and like Basseducer, the 2 that I do use are the 1/8 and 1/4oz. bullet heads, and for the same reason. I don't like the handles on the Hilts. May sound lame, but when pouring for hours and hours, I think it makes a difference, and most of my other (Do-it) molds are production molds.
Heck, I'm not even counting some of the old molds I have that are cast iron I believe, and I have to use vice grips to close them to pour because there are no handles, they are in halves.
