Re: boggs tacklemaker

That sounds like the ticket Tom... If that flat cutout is extended even an inch or 1.5 inches, I think you'll have the "Super Bogg's Tacklemaker 5000" Please take a few after shots... My wife asked what's going on; did the Viagra accidentally fall into my coffee??? Women just don't get it sometimes...

Re: boggs tacklemaker

Well my friend got it made sweet. He went into alot of detail also. A friend of his 80yrs old did most of the work. He machined a stainless steel 4" long with threaded end just like the d size only 4" long. The end piece exactly the same as the D. Now my first wrap is perfect i assembly the spinner bait hold it on the flat section when making the end twist, works wonderful. I figure how to post a pic i will tomorrow.

Re: boggs tacklemaker

Take your photos and when you move it from your camera to your computer, set the photo sizing for 600 x 400 pixels and save them as jpg files. When you get ready to add it to this thread, select the "Go Advanced" button. The window will open to show the box where you add and format your text; add your text. When your finished doing that, scroll down beyond the Submit Reply button, in the Additional Options section, select the Manage Attachments button and follow the directions for adding you photos.

Two things that you need to remember:
  1. There are size restrictions; but the 600 x 400 pixel jpg files shouldn't pose any problems.
  2. You are limited to adding three photos or files using the Manage Attachments feature.
Good luck getting them posted and just ask if you run into problems.

Re: boggs tacklemaker

I still think as many of the musky guys that can schedule ahead should think about going to the TU 2009 Meet - I know it can be a long drive, but it's a real experience too. My wife had such a good time with the other wives last time that she is looking forward to the meet as much as I am.

Do you think your buddy would have time to make another one just like your's... I' thinking we could find some common interest.

Spike

You'd think with as many people who use the Boggs and write to them they'd offer this as standard with their wire former.

Re: boggs tacklemaker

Hi,
I think about to order this tool.
Would be fine if somebody can answer me some questions.

- Can I use smaller wire (eg 0,035") with the D Unit ?
- Can I use the C Unit for 0,045" wire ?
- Max length of a spinner I can do ?
- Any other source for the components then Stamina ?

Best regards from Germany
Roland

Re: boggs tacklemaker

Barlow's carries some supplies for the tacklemaker. You may be able to bend .045, but it might bend your kingpost (metal rod that forms the eye of the bend). You can bend thinner wire with a larger head, but your eyes will be a little bigger in diameter. I use 0.051 wire and I HAVE to use the D head, although a friend of mine uses the C head and a pair of vise grips somehow.
