This is my official first post and NOOOO, I'm not going to go asking questions...well not yet. I have spent the time since I have signed up until about a month ago just reading and learning and then trying different things. I will say that the Member Submitted Tutorials have made me lose countless hours of sleep reading them and then doing searches.
After making some in-line spinners for bass and catching a 23" 4 pound+ bucketmouth, which for around here is a really good fish, the addiction started. I soon there after scaled the size of the lures up to muskie size and am very happy with the results so far. I have yet to catch a muskie but am confident that they are responding more to my own lures than the store bought ones.
The below link is of a album of lures I took pictures of and have since improved, or at least I think I have.
Welcome to Tackleunderground.com. I'm happy to hear that the MSTs were helpful and I'm sure it's just a matter of time until you bag a musky. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

To fish or not to fish, that is the question... See you on the lake, I'm out'a here!!!
Welcome to TU Chuck. You make some realy nice lures. Yes that is a nice size bass for WI. I mainly fish the SE section if WI., Lake Geneva, Lake Delavan. They are excellent bass lakes. A lot of 5's and some 6's come out of there regularly. 2 years ago my wife got a 6.2 largemouth out of Lake Tichigan. Anyway everyone here will be more than willing to help you out with any questions, all you have to do is ask.
Can never have enough spinnerbaits.
Fish a lot in S.E.Wisco myself.I own a house on Whitewater Lake and i pulled out some really nice bass and pike last year.
Welcome to the underground.
Spike-A-Pike, I may be hitting you up on the balancing of in-line spinners as I remember reading a thread that I believe you commented on the importance of it and I am currently fighting with one right now that I believe is not spinning due to a balancing issue. I'll try getting some pics of it and go from there.
Cadman, with a name like that I'm betting we are in the same profession. AutoCAD??
I lived in Whitewater for 6 years and after going thru the big D I don't really care to go back, not that's it's a bad town, just bad decisions on my part in that town. There are some nice bass lakes around there but since taking up Muskie hunting I have kind of lost interest in bass fishing.
I should probably add that the strangest thing about the day I caught the 4# was that my fishing partner and I went out with about two dozen lures each that we had made, with no other intentions than trying out the lures to see how we did. Its a rather small lake(71 square acres) with some really good clarity, perfect to watch how the lures work in the water.
We ice fished the lake with some rather poor results. One of the lures I made was the only one catching fish. Being the nice guy that I am I had a duplicate that I gave to my buddy and we ended up with well over two dozen bass ranging from 12 to two that were over 23 and a 38 northern. To say we were excited would be an understatement, or maybe it should be addicted.
MstormC,
I feel funny welcoming you as you have been a member longer than I. Welcome anyway. I have had the opportunity to fish Wissota and Holcomb a couple of times and think that WI. has some nice fisheries. Great looking muskie baits. I'm sure you will have some takers in no time. Good luck.

I am happy to report that the jinx of 2008 is now over. Went out walleye fishing Sunday early morning and after 4 hours of not even a nibble started targeting Northern and Muskie. We were about ready to call it a day, mainly from frustration of no fish when I hooked this girl. Image of First Muskie - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting 37" with a 19.5" girth
This was the first Muskie I have ever caught when fishing for them. I do have to say that it was a real adrenaline rush. Got her released and quit shaking about an hour after I hooked the first one I hooked this one. Image of Chinese Fire Drill Muskie - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting 37" and a 20" girth and no it wasn't the same fish. This fish had me and my fishing partner running all over the boat as it wanted nothing to do with the net or the boat. At one point my fishing partner yelled at the fish to pick a side. It had to be a sight to see from shore. We appropriately named this fish the Chinese Fire Drill fish.
Both fish were caught, unfortunately, on lures that were home made, just not by me. My fishing partner missed 3 others on a jerk bait with one of them biting the line off about two feet above the bait. Good thing it floated.
All I can say now is that the addiction has really set in and can't wait to get back out on the water. Between making baits and being on the water I am going to have to find some time in there to sleep.
