Skirt Material Going Bad ?????

I have about 200 or so black skirt strips that are pretty hard and sticking together in the plastic bag I have them stored in. I checked some of my other colors and a few other colors are also hard and starting to stick together. Is this normal ? What is the best way to store your skirt material so it does not start to go bad?

Ultraviolet light is the number one enemy of skirts. Skirts stored in direct sunlight or under florescent lights will deteriorate very fast. Store them in a dark cool spot.
