Do any of you all make salt water or large jigs?

Capt. Mike, I make a variety of saltwater jigs. The heaviest I currently make is a 5 oz Hot Lips type. What are you interested in?

Mostly just someone to converse with. I have been making jigs for my own use for about a year now, and have had to learn everything the hard way. I have a large (and growing daily) collection of Do-It and Hilts molds, but every now and then see something unique in a tackle store. I use powder paint and tie mostly bucktail on them or use the soft plastic tails I have started making (shrimp right now).

Cavu, anything I can help you with, just ask! I tie a lot of jigs with bucktail also, and use some synthetics. I have a large collection of molds too, but I make both freshwater & saltwater jigs. I live in Maryland, just about 15 minutes from the Chesapeake Bay. Most of the saltwater jigs I make are intended for Stripers or Bluefish, but I make some for Seatrout as well. Many of the folks here like to troll the big stuff, but there are some who use the lighter jigs & cast or jig them. I like the lighter stuff myself, and prefer casting rather than trolling. I also like bucktail or feather dressed jigs, but also use a variety of plastics.

I'm always experimenting and looking for new things too!

I use vinyl paint on most of my saltwater jigs, but also coat many of them with an epoxy/glitter overcoat. I like powder paint, but haven't got to where I can do a lot of heads quickly with it, so I stick with the vinyl.
