  1. Jigs are listed under wire baits, so I'd put them in there.

  2. When faced with a large number to coat, my gut feeling is it’s easier and faster to dip lures than to spray.

  3. I just wipe the rim and threads clean on the mason jar before I close it up. I also don't swirl the jar to let the product get on the lid. It will harden to where you cant get the lid off. This has happened to me before, And I just poked a few holes in the lid and transferred it to a new mason jar.

  4. from what I have heard you will not have to dip the eyes because they are bonded together in the mold! and the color change will most likely be from reheating and getting a little too hot.

  6. Put baking soda in the hole/divot and drip in runny super glue. It will harden instantly and create a hard plastic that is sand able. Sand it flush with a piece of sand paper on a popsicle stick/ small file and you are good to go. That's also a great way to cover lead ballast holes and to fill in hook hangers that came loose as well.

  7. To piggy back on that.. you not only need a dedicated booth, you need a booth made for volatile sprays as most are flammable when spraying. You'll need to direct vent to outside, and you will need face protection when spraying. That stuff in the face is not a good thing. A full body tyvek suit would be best, just like painters wear. It is absolutely the way to go if you are doing large quantities (hundreds at a time), just a large investment and lots of requirements.

  8. Use a mason jar with double layer of clear plastic wrap between the lid and the jar. You will destroy the KBS can when you open it, I swear they glue it shut... so be ready with the jar. The stuff is time sensitive as it is moisture cured, the longer its exposed to air the faster it will go. I do use paint saver in my big jar (storage) of KBS, then I do not use it in my dipping jar (tall skinny smaller jar) as I open it often to use it. I do not thin it, its almost as thin as water to begin with. You'll want 2 coats for most lures, some guys do 3. Just dip and hang, easy as that. Do not use a lure turner or you could induce uneven curing and bubbles. When you are buying it, be sure to buy it from a source that gets a FRESH supply. Don't buy from amazon or ebay or home depot, places like that can have it stored for years in warehouses. Buy direct from KBS if possible! This stuff is expensive, make sure you get a good can of it so it doesn't go bad a few weeks after opening. 9. Alright, I just made my first batch. Mind you, I am a beginner and my only experience so far is with Do It Essential molds. Anyway, I'm super happy with the way they pour and work. I had problems with two of the six eyes on the first run but solved the problem on subsequent batches by pushing the eye in the socket more firmly. No problems after that. The lake is frozen, so I can't give you an "action" report yet, but they are my new favorites. The color changed some on the second and third batches, I think because I added oil. It might also have been from the reheating. The bloodlines were easy and the eyes are soft eyes from Spike it. I'm not sure if I have to dip these or not.

  10. Collarless is easier to tie for me. I just wrap several times then cut off some hair and give it a couple of wraps then add some more hair and wrap until I get as much as I want spread around the hook then wrap it good, add the chenille and wrap it down use a little clear nail polish to hold the knots and done.

  11. The best auto clears are all two part catalyzed finishes. There are many choices but the only thing I can recommend is choose one with a high solids content. Of course, all these auto clears contain isocyanates (“cyanate” = cyanide) which can cause serious health problems if inhaled so you need a dedicated spray booth with filtered exhaust plus you must wear a solvent rated breathing mask while spraying them. if it were me, I’d just go the easy way and dip KBS.
