Kville...Beautiful job on the baits!!..I agree with everyone else on the gill slits,don't worry about it unless it's requested.I do like Skeeter does and generally add alittle red to the throat anyway. I bet you were all puffed up after those phone calls...I know I always am!! I enjoy the feeling of someone ELSE catching fish on my creations more than I enjoy catching fish on them!!..Nathan

I tried smoking fish a couple times,I could get the fish rolled in the tiny papers ok,but I couldn't keep them lit...I must be doing something wrong..Nathan

These baits pictured are about 7-8" long,but way less than a ounce.Thats one of the neat things about this lure,size but no weight.To be honest,they are weird to look at,but when you get them in the water,they come to life.The soft flowing motion of fur and the mechanicle motion of the diving bill.The heads are made of wood,and rattle. I'm currently working on some smaller sizes.I sent Redg8r a squid I've been working on which follows the same concept.I think he is going to post a picture of it..Nathan

Hey guys(& gals) found this great book at Barnes & Noble the other day.It's called..The complete Idiot's guide to: Making money with your Hobby. I'm only part way through it,but what a find.It gives formulas for figuering retail,and wholesale prices.There is a ton of valuable info. in this book..Nathan

Hey Tim, I'll be the first to take a wack at this.Do they want you to place split rings on all your baits that currently don't use them? I know baits like spooks,etc. don't use them.I don't see any cons to this way of thinking at all.With split rings,the hooks are able to move in a wider range reducing the chance of the fish gaining leverage and throwing the hook.Using split rings also allows for faster hook change should you brake a hook off...Nathan

Buggerman,My thought on this is,if someone see's something I make,and likes it and starts manufac. themselves and they get a patent on it,and now request I stop making it because of their patent,I've got some recourse and protection and can prove it was my idea. Personally I think a patent is a big waste of money,a minor change in the design and your around the patent!! And which one of us has the money to defend a patent...Nathan P.S. Buggerman,You may want to do a poor mans patent.Take pictures,list materials etc. Date everything,then have notorized,Then mail the whole package to your self,and leave unopened.This will give you some limited coverage..Nathan
