  1. Gentlemen, The luremaking forums are not the place to be soliciting work or requesting such. Please take advantage of our classifieds section, particularly the "WANT ADS" section. Thanks.
  2. Same here, thats why I love my old Jeep, straight 6 and I can sit in the engine well to work on er
  3. Correct, it was an unintentional problem. I apologize.....I'm not too happy either. I usually perform all site upgrades, but i've been having issues with an unused part of the site lately. I took "advantage" of a service from the software developers and asked if they would upgrade that ONE unused section since everytime I perform maintenance I end up having to call on them for support anyway. (they encode the software so I cant edit it.) Long story short, I shoulda done it myself, they upgraded the GALLERY without my consent, which I was intentionally avoiding, because I personally liked the old gallery just fine. I can revert or rollback, but the new gallery release will be mandatory soon (in order to remain compatible w/ the forum) so I'll apologize again & ask that everyone try & enjoy the upgraded gallery. Thank you.
  4. You can.... it's one medium i use because its easy to rework and easily reclaimed. You can pass a torch across it lightly to pull a gloss finish before molding the master.

Very Nice! Question? how long was the electro erosion process for that mold? (not counting setup & design, just actual erosion?) Thanks for posting it.
  6. I think you may want to familiarize yourself with compressor TYPES and then make a decision on BRANDS. Not necessary unless you plan on running multiple guns at once. A tank will give you more volume of readily available air, thats it. If you will be working alone with a few brushes, a diaphragm compressor will give you plenty of air AND its quiet, so no need for a muffler box. I bought a Badger (Thayer Chandler /Spray-it) diaphragm compressor on ebay for $50 many years ago & it's quiet & works all day. I also have a Craftsman 20 gallon rolling compressor that is super loud (oil-less) (120v) and works fine properly regulated. I also have a 60 gallon Kobalt tank (oiled) with a GE (220v) motor pulled from a Binks compressor to replace the cheap import motors they put on these tanks. It works fine and is a little quieter than the craftsman contractor compressor. I use the diaphragm compressor for airbrushing, the craftsman for household projects and the Kobalt for general shop air supply but any of the 3 will do the job if properly regulated and protected (eg; water/oil traps, filters etc.).

  8. A few of us members recently collaborated on a new feature for the site TU Glossary Just by typing frequently used terms & abbreviations such as, pop , dinp , d2t , etc. They will be recognized by the site and automatically linked to their respective definitions in the new glossary, providing a quick reference for new & veteran members alike. These reference links are retroactive, meaning they work in all previous topics. You can help expand and improve this glossary by editing any existing records and by adding more terms to the database yourself. A big Thank You to members Rayburnguy & Vodkaman for compiling the first 100+ terms for us all, Thank You Gentlemen! Note, not all terms are autolinked, but we'll make sure the most obscure ones get placed. Click here to view the article

  10. Ok, we got a good working start, thank you Ben & Dave, great work with over 100 definitions. Some of them will link in topics simply by typing them, such as " pop " " dn " " s81 " etc. The reference glossary is here, I set it up "wiki" style, meaning all members can edit and add to the glossary. I'll add credits to you both in the glossary and add a direct link to the site navigation shortly. BTW, an announcement was made on the homepage
  11. This gets brought up occasionally. Agreed that it's worth implementation now more than ever. That would be the best case scenario. I'll start coding it, if you guys have a list of abbreviations and acronyms you would like referenced, I'd sure appreciate the effort. I could possibly define certain keywords too. Thanks for the input. Jerry

  13. If it's solely for a hobby, consider donating them out, many clubs and outdoor organizations appreciate any help they can get. Trading out is always an option too
  14. Dave, No worries, just troubleshooting. Thanks for submitting the screenshots, they helped. I'm checking into auto scaling for image links now. Thanks again fellas, Jerry
  15. I think the screenshot images posted earlier in this topic may be stretching the site, I replaced the images in the post via attachment. Revisit this topic, refresh (ctrl + F5) and set your browser display back to your preference & let me know the results. If the inserted images are indeed the issue, I'll look into a solution to help us properly scale down oversized image links. Thanks Ben, Jerry
  16. Dave, Ben, Thanks for the input, give the page another refresh (ctrl + F5) let me know if that clears up your issues.
  17. Mark's havin TU withdrawals lol. Seriously, thanks for the feedback, so you're seeing an improvement in speed so far? Anyone else in this thread experiencing anything noteworthy? Better, worse? Suggestions?
  18. Google "rotocasting" or "rotational molding" for some good reading. Jed (Riverman) & I worked on a couple machines a few years back. I was able to mold enough poppers to participate in one of our earlier lure swaps. It's definitely a viable method, but we both had issues with repeatability. I was using typical urethane casting resin and later learned that most resins "Snap cure" meaning they change from liquid to solid quickly. Smooth-on Inc, now offers a specialized resin called "ROTO" they claim will "gradually cure" over the course of being rotated, improving the possibility of a uniform thickness of the casting. I tried it out with with a homebrew machine I built, but haven't had much luck. I personally think you need a machine in which you can independently control the RPM on both axi's, which is tricky to build. There's a few different homebrew designs to be seen on youtube, or I'll try & thaw out my shop & snap a few pics of what I threw together. Good luck with it & welcome to TU.
  19. Hi Fellas, Thanks for the input, but for ease of thread management, I'm gonna lock this topic up & defer future replies over to this thread: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/21558-a-new-year-a-new-look/page__pid__160869#entry160869 I'm working on it, stick with me & we'll get er ironed out. thanks, Jerry
  20. Ok, Site width has been addressed. Should be fine for users with screens set to 1024px and above (99% of users) Site speed is being addressed, you should see improvements already, more can be done, feel free to update me if you like. Thanks again for the feedback, Jerry
  21. Thanks for the feedback, I addressed a couple issues, including the site width and inconsistent "jerky" scrolling in internet explorer. Press "ctrl" and "F5" together on your keyboard to force a page refresh in your browser.
  22. TU's new look is now live.

  23. Members posting new topics specifically in the luremaking forums will notice a "confirmation" screen you must click to continue onto the new topic form. This has been put in place as a stop-gap measure to prevent unintentional misuse of these particular forums. Most notably, those new users who join and post lure photos in the tech discussion forums, before realizing we have a dedicated gallery in place for their uploading pleasure. If the problem subsides over time, we may remove the confirmation screen. Thanks. Click here to view the article
  24. A quick preview of a well deserved & overdue update to the TackleUnderground website. The blue & gold pays homage to the way the site looked almost a decade ago. Those of you familiar with the wayback machine can have a look if you have time to burn & like a stroll down memory lane, (or a good laugh, perhaps). The change should take effect in the next day or two, simply be aware. A few small notes worth mentioning is that this update will temporarily remove a couple features and improve others: The "Status Updates" feature will be temporarily removed until it can be reimplemented site-wide. Chat (shoutbox) will be down and soon replaced with an improved (actual) chatroom. More on that later. The site navigation menu will be changed to condense links and improve overall navigation. Any comments or concerns are always welcome.Click here to view the article
