  1. The regular coloring has to be cooked into the worms, so that's out

Hang tight guys... It's being looked into

    Demolding

You can use just about any release agent on the plastic. The problem is the heat from the curing process causes the plastic to become soft and pourous. That's what causes the plastic to stick Try using just a little less catalyst next time.

I'm not sure? Jerry has been working on photo gallery upgrades just like he did on the site. I'm sure it'll be back up soon
  6. Recipe courtesy of TU member: BigZ Silverside/Baitfish 6oz of your favorite plastic. 3-5 drops LC Jet Black Lumina Black powder (LC) LC green highlight. A lot of Senko Sam Holo string glitter A little Senko Sam blue flake (TINY) You'll have to eyeball the highlight colors to get it right, but I used more green than black powder, that Lumina stuff is pretty damn strong. I've done these using violet and blue highlight too, they look sweet.
  7. Welcome to TU Sam Before we can help you with the plastic, we need to know what brand of plastic and how much you are using. Are you wanting to add hardener to a couple ounces at a time, or to 5 gallons at a time? For the tail cutter, please use the search feature! There are several threads that give detailed information on how to make a tail cutter.
  8. Boy, can I... I throw a lot of big swimbaits, up to 6 or 7 ozs. There are a few rods out there, but most are expensive or you have to get them custom wrapped. The best bang for you buck is the Okuma Big Bait rod. You get a rod designed for big baits, by guys that throw big baits. 2-3 ozs isn't that heavy, so check out the heavy model. You won't need the XH for that weight. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageRDCOKUMA-OGSBBR.html And if that's still too much $$$...check out these Daiwa Heartland rods. These aren't as stout as the Okuma's, so you actually get the 7'9" XH with this one. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-DAHSCR.html
  9. If it's a craw, texas. If it's a frog, weightless on top or carolina.
  10. We are currently working on a project to aid both sellers and buyers. That's all I can say right now It didn't sound like you were posting with ill intent, but we have seen others try to take advantage in the past. Let's see what the other mods think? I don't have a problem with it. The problem is basically the same thing. Some members might see this as an opportunity to "advertise". So then it's not you taking advantage, it's them. It's kind of a grey area right now. One thought, is to take a look in the 'Soft Plastics' photo section. Just pick the baits you are actually interested in and contact that seller. Some of our members do not have web sites capable of sales, but they do sale on ebay and do custom orders on request. Edit... There seems to be a problem with the photo links right now. You can not click directly on the posters name. But, if you click on the photo, then click on the posters member id, it will take you to their profile where you will see contact options.
  11. A couple of things... First, I am not the one that removed your post. But here some reasons why it may have been removed. You're right, there is nothing listed in the rules...right now. The rules are currently being revised. Trading and/or selling is prohibited on the open forums at this time. Although you were not doing either, what you were doing opens a door for people to advertise...for free. Free advertising is not allowed. I did read your post however. I realize that you are looking to buy some baits. But what you asked for, are some samples. Now it doesn't seem to fair to me if 20 members send you free samples, not knowing that others were fighting for your business? There is no guarantee that you will even buy any baits if you receive a large amount of samples. You also mentioned personal links not working, that is why you posted. If that is the case, simply use the site integrated email or pm feature to contact each member that you would like a sample from. That's why they're available. No harm, no foul Welcome to TU. Take some time to look around and get to know some of the guys by asking tackle making related questions.
  12. Or leave it, and have the bait double as a crawdad or big jig trailer
  13. It sound like you're referring to a 2 piece mold? This would give you a full, round body. They are made primarily from Durham's Water Putty, or Plaster of Paris. Use the search feature. There is enough information here to do everything except pour it for you
  14. You might try this guy. http://www.heartlandtackleservice.com/
  15. The next two questions after Chris or I mention Pro-Cure are: Where can I find it? http://www.pro-cure.com/  and Which one do I buy? Go with the bait butter in your choice of scent
  16. You should be able to find it at almost any good tackle shop. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-KKB.html
  17. Oxblood is a preference color Depends on which one you started using and are comfortable with. Robo's is basically a cinammon or light brown. Their smaller worms have a very faint purple vein in them. I think the 7" straight tail is void of the vein. The Yamamoto is more of a reddish brown. Most oxblood colors have a little bit of small red flake added as well.
  18. Please use the TU 'search' feature!!! All of the links for our current suppliers have been posted several times. There are even a few posts with multiple links in them to all of the suppliers. I am not trying to attack you, I realize you are new. But if you read the rules prior to signing up, it asks all members to get familiar with the site and use the search feature. Answering the same questions over and over several times with the same answer, only takes up space.
  19. I'll bet part of the problem is because the parts are so thin : You might try and evenly push the legs/tail into the mold material just a little bit. That will give you a little more cavity to fill and shouldn't affect the action of the bait.
  20. Sure you can...but I think you're asking for trouble. With the extra thin appendages on a lizard, I really think you would have a hard time filling them? But I haven't tried. So if you try and it works let us know
  21. I can't comment on the durability since I have never used it. The guys using it are happy with it, but remember, for the most part, they are not bait makers. They are anglers. They have found a simple and fairly inexpensive way to put a more protective coating on their baits. I can tell you what almost every one of them are using it for. It's for the MSSlammer. Mike Shaw makes an awesome swimbait, but the top coat is lagging. As far as price, I can't remember. I think it was in the $20-$25 range Not sure. You can find it at places like Michael's.
  22. I don't have a problem paying $7 for a blade. I do it all the time But in this case, I would be paying for the coating. For me, it's not about the coating or protection of the paint, it's all about the quality of the blade! I don't usually have blades long enough to have to worry about them getting all scratched up. I tend to loose them in trees a lot If you are making a good quality blade with the added protection, then I don't see a problem with $7. The only hard part will be getting people to accept that price when there are already so many good blades out there with good reputations.
  23. I'm using the same size. Only difference is I'm using the Staples brand. About $22 for 1000. Don't waste your time with the clear labels. I've tried them from 3 different companies. None of them are completely clear. They leave a frosted looking area under the plastic. They work great if you put them on something with a colored background, but not on something else that's clear. The only way to go clear is to have your labels pre-printed. But now we're really talking big bucks
  24. Yes. They just dip it, hang it and let it dry.
