  1. Great stuff!! My son has good success biting off a third of a senko and ripping or hopping it like a ned rig.
  2. Man I sure hope I'm wrong on this one and please someone chime in if I am, but I believe bojon is one of our members who has passed away? This site was established in 1998 and we've sadly had a few losses. If so, bojon was brilliant in this field and a solid mentor. Beautiful tubes, btw!!
  3. When using a screw-down lock, I have my son do it for me LOL!! But yes really good plastic. I have used ONE Z-Man Razor Shad out of the pack. Safe to say I've caught at least a dozen bass on it and it's still going strong!
  4. I would assume so. I was just looking for availability. I have always called it Z-Man's term, "Elaztech." Didn't realize it's the same thing.
  5. I don't know how the formula is, but Bait Plastics sells it on Ebay...... https://www.ebay.com/itm/402945028982?hash=item5dd1653376:g:o~wAAOSw2npg1NbL&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwJr4oooV8pKwMkIS8clGW3nO4sQQs4Ug%2Ff92BvB6X3r8mYAiB%2BTJCT10ec4JGxXXw6gEi%2BvzX6K%2B1E6jVAbNR2MGxUJ4TKL1XpFZ1Motelkp%2FYwWYUftgWDw%2Fx9dciPz13yjTXFSLn9k%2FccUTxw%2F27yNXXfDHkOi0H2oyacbZ4dMIOt0ZbsVdXPi%2BoOm4E2GBLpxvur9NAdPY%2FuO574aNJrcAdEu3yOOUBtGD04L1UCu0kK0uZdHCqauMX7FL56lOw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-KZquCjYg If this is the same stuff Z-Man uses, I have a love/hate relationship with it LOL. Excellent plastic, but good luck getting a screw in lock in that stuff!
  6. Just about anyone who sells plastic will sell stabilizer as well. I know for sure that MF and Lure Craft do.
  7. Yeah I forgot that's what I did at the end there. I always had a couple gallons set aside with stabilizer just for tails and lighter colors.
  8. Not necessarily. That's more than likely the plastisol. If it's bubbling at the very end, you could have a problem, but most of the time bubbles appear and will dissolve before pouring. And I'm sure most of you know, but just in case.........heat stabilizer in small amounts.........especially with those lighter colors.......is a life changer!
  9. Yellowing and a smell you'll never forget lol. And in some cases it might be saved, but for the most part it's done.
  10. Hey James welcome to TU! I used to be a collector of old wooden lures and I have found Ebay to be your best bet. I just did a search and found a few old Berkley catalogs. Hopefully you can find what you're looking for. Peace :-)
  11. Yeah kind of a bummer it's called that because when I see rainbow, I always think rainbow trout.......and that color looks nothing like that. lol
  12. Could it possibly be cinnamon? I don't see any purple in the picture, but if you're seeing some, it could be purple hi lite. MF makes a killer cinnamon, so I'd use that with purple hi lite and holograph flake. Best of luck, brother!
  13. Did it with garlic salt back in the day, never tried the shrimp. Garlic salt was decent but heavy.
  14. Yeah when I made them, I had a drop down list of choices for scents. Lately I've been wondering if that's better, bait IN rather than on. I think my son and I are gonna do a few tests the next couple times out LOL.
  15. My son and I fished over the weekend and he tells me he's a huge fan of Pro Cure's Nightcrawler scent. I use either crawfish or anise, but I'm wondering if we are fooling ourselves. Do these things REALLY work?? Do you guys have a favorite? Do you choose a bait that is pre-scented?? Who's a firm believer in scents and who leaves 'em without it? In the past, especially out here in the west, we were taught that the fish will hold on longer with a softer scented bait. I believed it for most of my life, but doubt it these days. Maybe I'm just old and cranky now. I believe we had a topic on this in the past, but I couldn't find it and I'm too lazy to dig deep. Would love to read some of your opinions. Tight lines, friends!!
  16. I've always been a fan of posting photos in forums if it helps the question........and this definitely helps! Plus I'd love to see the color myself.
  17. Doesn't sound right as I don't see pumpkin being in CC, but you can buy basic pumpkin at any lure parts place. I would recommend NOT getting pumpkin from MF as it's very weak.
  18. Personally, I love the colors that come in highlighter form. I'm always messin' around with them on swimbaits lol
  19. When I made cotton candy, I used MF fluorescent pink as the base color, then add your flake accordingly. Good luck and welcome to TU!
  20. "Super Soft" was my selling point back in the day here in Central California as there weren't many of us doing it at the time. That rage really took off then. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to have fizzled a bit in the past decade or so. Now that I'm doing my fair share of fishing, really the only bait that I want super soft is a worm because as jigmeister mentioned, it takes next to nothing to set the hook. I don't want a soft craw, stick bait, ned rig, swimbait, etc. Just don't care for the action on them in a softer plastic. So now that I've talked about pouring baits just for me and my son, I'd say I'd probably go with 80 percent medium and maybe have a gallon of super soft set aside for worms. This is going completely against my selling point LOL! Just my
  21. Welcome to TU! There have been members in the past here who have duplicated the eggs and hopefully someone can chime in and help out. Good luck!
  22. I'm not entirely sure if I'm understanding this right, if it's a mold or color issue. If it's a color problem, the only thing that worked for me was changing to non-bleed chartreuse. ANY color I used prior to that would obliterate chartreuse.
  23. Dang my old eyes. It looked green pumpkin lol
  24. Easiest way if you don't wanna mess with the swirl effect is a dark green pumpkin with a touch of blue hi-lite. Good luck!
  25. Doesn't look like anything I've run across in my life, but man what an UGLY lookin' lure!! (I'll bet that sucker would catch fish, though) Sorry I don't have anything more to add other than it looks like something randomly put together, but if you say you saw it in a catalog, that wouldn't surprise me either! Really interested to see if some of my fellow old timers on here have seen it. Good luck in your quest........and welcome to TU!!
