  1. www.lurepartsonline.com I buy about $300 per month (free shipping on +$150 orders). Great service. Good Prices. Never had an issue.
  2. I have been pouring lead for about 20 years. Here are the factors I have found to most affect success: 1. Temperature. I would say 75% of the problems I have had were solved by simply increasing the temp of the lead and/or the mold. 2. Lead composition. Pure lead is more likely to pour well than wheel weights, but I have been successful pouring wheel weight for just about every application at one time or another. 3. Flow. some molds just require a ladle. (Slip jig is a good example). If the bottom pour doesn't work, try a spoon before giving up. 4. Mold design. I make some of my molds and have been able to pour 1/2 pieces through a 1/8" gate, but the flow inside the cavity has to be such that it fills quickly and isn't forced to make turns. 5. Atmospheric conditions. I can't really explain it, but some days it is just harder to pour that others. If you have tried EVERYTHING. Try again another day when the weather has changed. Hope this helps.
  3. Does Cast have a website?
  4. I think you answered my questions. Thank you very much. This was VERY useful info.

  6. Shorty's Hooks Selle two types of mold-in screwlocks: MSTK975-008 MSTK975-239 The description in the price sheet is identical for both. Does anybody here know what the difference is between the two? Stephen
  7. First Tape the edges so you don't create a flash like, start with about a 120 grit and work up to 1000. Then use a polishing compound. I make my own bullet concave worm sinker and polish then like this. The sinker falls out of the mold easier and you get a very smooth mirror finish.
  8. I take a small pair of wire cutters, grind off the back until sharp, then sand and polish it until it is smooth. If you twist when you cut, it will leave a very smooth surface.
  9. Someone here suggested dipping a jig immediately after pouring (while it is still hot). If you work quickly, it is the most efficient way to paint jigs.
  10. I make them out of colorado blades. They work fine.

  12. I have the Grave Digger Mold. I'll have to try it an get back to you. I think the contrast of the upward pull of the blade vs the downward pull of the jig head could be interesting.
  13. Ever tried using a grave digger head? That might move all over the place.
  14. Anybody ever use a Grave Digger jig head on a chatterbait? That might do something interesting.

  16. Why not just pour some spinnerbait heads with heavier than normal wire and bend it down? It looks like that is what the Dancer Heads are.
  17. Is it a fact that a more flexible arm will create more vibration? I think a flexible arm would swing more, but would actually absorb the vibration. If the objective is to transmit vibration in the water, a stiffer arm would be more suited for that IMHO. So, to illustrate, if your hold a vibrating sander with a really loose grip, it will move around a lot, but you won't feel the vibration much through your arm. If you hold it really tight, it will move around less, but you will actually feel it a lot more. Or, an old 70's fiber glass fishing pole sure bounces around a lot, but you don't you really can't read the bottom structure when you drag a worm on the bottom of the lake. On the other hand, a stiffer, lighter graphite rod, doesn't bounce around much, but is excellent at allowing you to feel the gravel, grass, mud, etc on the bottom. If you agree with this theory, then the best way to increase vibration would probably be to play around with the source or motor of the vibration to modify the volume and frequency. Go with stiff wire, but seek out new blade designs or configuration.

  19. I f you are going to buy 5 molds or more, you are better off buying from lureparts. Price for the molds is the same as Zeiners and Shipping is free for orders over $150.00. They don't have as many models as Zeiners, though.
  20. Stretcher, is this the braid? http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIPPING-100ft-250lb-Braided-Kevlar-Line-for-Fishing-Camping-Kite-Flying-/280891893387?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416676268b
  21. Anybody know what kind of string and material is used to attach this kind of stinger hooks? http://image.basspro.com/images/images2/57000/57254.jpg
  22. Of course I can have it shipped here, but then it gets expensive.
  23. I get that Bucktails are cheap in the US; I can´t get them in Mexico, though. Looking for something that might not be originally purposed for jig tying but could work as a substitute. Maybe I can find something locally.
  24. Where do you get it? What is it usually used for?
