  1. Try Thunder Shad out of Gainsville, Fl. http://thundershad.com/ BassinBob....
  2. I have a client that I paint musky lures for and need to find a source for oversized (11mm - 18mm) 3D eyes. You guys have any sources? I've tried the usual one, Bogs, Predator, Janns, etc but nothing over 9mm. Any suggestions? BassinBob
  3. I paint and repaint hundreds of baits and I also use the exacto knifes to hold my lures. But if I can I use the small electrical clips on a piece of 3/16" dowel rod instead. But if you use the exacto knifes and the epoxy runs into the groves. Take them and turn them upside down and place them in a small jar of acetone for an hour or so. Then take a small brass brush and clean them off. They will look almost as good as new afterwards. I also use them to spray on my primer so this will clean the primer off as well. If you have a Hobby Town in your area their brand of exacto kines are much better that the E-xacto brand knifes. You can catch them on sell and get them for about $1.50 each at times. I have about 50 or so that i use and most of the time that is not enought on hand. BassinBob....
  4. You might call Blake Shelton at Shelton's Clothing in Moulton, Alabama. I custom painted 200 Pogo Shad's for him back in the summer in both the 1/2 oz. and the 1/4 oz. sizes. I'm not sure if he has any left you you might give him a call. Shelton's Clothing (256) 974-9079 2524 County Road 87 Moulton, AL 35650 BassinBob BER Custom Painting

    sexy shads

I had a client show me one that he caught so many fish on that they eat the paint off the rear and the eyes. See my version here: http://bercustompainting.net/images/sexy_shad.jpg BassinBob http://bercustompainting.net/
  6. I saw a product at Lowe's called "Famowood Glaze Coat" which is a two-part epoxy resin. Just wondering if it is the same as E-Tex or Devcon 2-Ton epoxy? If so does it hold up and as durable as E-Tex for finishing cranks? Thanks in advance, BassinBob....
  7. Hey guys what is a good close formula for Zoom's "White Pearl" in their "Fluke" color? Thanks in advance, BassinBob....
  8. I use an old "Mr. Coffee" coffee maker for my warmer aka "gridle". BassinBob.....
  9. June bug 6 ounces Calhoun Plastic 40 drops Lure Craft ? Black Grape 1 tsp. Del-Mart .035 Green Glitter Heat in microwave for 3:20 minutes in burst of 30 seconds. Add fewer drops of black grape if you like a lighter purple color.
  10. Thought I'd share a little tip to you guys about mixing E-Tex or any other epoxy. Instead of buying those small plastic cups for mixing your epoxy in. Just do as I do and use the bottom of a coke can. I use a Diet Pepsi but I'd think that they are all the same. They are concave so the mixing is very easy and everything runs to the bottom. I mix 1/2 teaspoon of both resin and harderner and mist with a piece of #12 copper wire with a bend at the bottom. If you mix smooth there will be no air bubbles. If so let it stand of a minute or two and exhale your breath on the surface and the bubble will disappear. Good luck, BassinBob....
  11. Thanks to everyone for their input. I've been making my own lures and custom painting crankbaits for a while now. (Jigs, hairjigs, spinnerbaits, tailspinners, etc.) It is fun to fish a tournament and have the guys ask "What did you catch them on today?" and I can say "It doesn't mattrer because you don't have one of them anyway!". I know the thrill of catching fish on my creations. I was just curious as to the cost savings if any involved in molding my own plastics. Another reason is that I like a few lures that are no longer in production and was wanting to try and make the "Master" molds for those so I could still use them. I'll be doing a lot of reading here and on the web for information from you "experts" and hope to start another time consuming hobby. Thanks again for your input, BassinBob.... 12. Hello all I have a question I?d like to ask. The question concerns cost of plastic worms. What is the cost per worm for example of a ?Homemade poured? Zoom Trick worm versus a store bought one? I know I can buy them locally for a 20 pack for $3.29. Which would be roughly $0.17 cents per worm, I want to how if ?homemade? would be worth the investment. I know there would be a lot of vartiables, but a rough estimate will be fine. Thanks in advance, BassinBob?.
  13. Here is my version of a redbreasted bluegill. Bob....
  14. Thanks for all the sugestions guys. As for the airbrush, I'm using a Paasche VL with the #3 head and needle. I've tried the other heads and needles but get the same results. As for air pressure I have gone as low as 20 psi and as high as 40 psi with the same results. I do keep the gun clean and only have the splatter effect with the Createx Opaque Black. I'll get another bottle and try that to see if it might be a bad batch of paint. Again thanks for all the suggestions, BassinBob.... http://home.hiwaay.net/~srisner/ber/
  15. Hey guys any of you having problems with Createx Opaque Black paint not spraying properly? Anytime I use this paint it gives me the light splatter effect. I want a fine spray and have tried thinning it down but it still does the same. Just wondering? See the picture below for what I'm talking about. Thanks, BassinBob
