  1. Luremaking.com has .45, .51, .62. They work well for us.
  2. Chas48 I do some Stand Up in 1/4 & 3/8oz. Sell some of them and never had any complaints with them. Use powder paint on them always. You have to keep the paint to a minimum around the line tie before curing them. If you attempt to remove excess paint you will leave very sharp burrs that will cut your line. mine end up with hard smooth powder painted line tie by keeping the paint to a minimum. Hope this helps. Garry.
  3. PA: Try luremaking.com for some info. I'm sure guy's here wil give you more info. Garry.
  4. A+ People, good supply of stock items. I also live in Ontario and if I call by 10:AM. I get delivery next morning. Garry
  5. Picked some up from Janns Netcraft a while ago. Makes a nice jig but it's not bucktail for sure. More action, nice shape but I found it looked matted towards the head. Think both have their place. Hope this helps. Garry.
  6. Small vice grips and a small clamp on vise works as well, and its cheap. Hope this helps. Garry
  7. SALTYROSS Try tying top and bottom only. The bucktail should pull around what you are tying to and it will take less wraps. Maybe use a finer thread if you can find one strong enough. Wraps have to be fairly tight. Hope this is helpful. Garry
  8. HAWNJIGS. By using the jighead with out the collar it lets you tie more material on the hook shank giving a little fuller body on the jig. Also with out the collar the head is a little larger giving a little different look to the jig and supposedly get a better hook up with the fish. Steel headers here use a lot of this style with Maribou. Hope this makes sense to you. Garry.
  9. Preheat a little less and remove from fluid bet a little quicker. Less heat and less time in the fluid bed should leave less paint on the head. This should keep paint from pluging eye of hook. Only need enough heat to make powder stick to head. It will look dry, no gloss. A quick reheat will smooth out paint. Then bake. I do #4 and #6 hooks with no paint in the eyes this way. Hope this helps. Garry.
  10. Luremaking.com Flor. white are long hair. You may have to tell them what you want. Also Superfly.ca has a long hair bucktail. I may have some here. I will check and get back to you. Garry.
  11. Rock Chuck Bullet Swag Now I have learned something else new. Thanks for the info. Garry.
  12. RCBS is a brand name. Usually sold by amunition reloading suppliers. See some on E-Bay from time to time. Garry.
  13. Used a RCBS pot for about 15 years and it finally gave up. Lost heat at the spout and it freezes up. Great pot holds lots of lead, lots of room to work. Got a Lee pot to replace it. Its OK but I do like the RCBS more. I will be buying a new RCBS soon. I think it is worth the extra $$ if pouring a lot. Garry.
  14. Hair and feather jigs for freshwater should have 1/3 of the material extending past the bend of the hook. I think this would apply to most saltwater patterns as well. Plastics seem to vary from that depending what you are fishing for and how you are fishing it. Check the gallery here and it will give you an idea on tied jigs. Garry.
  15. BassSlayer: The search function here will give an idea on most of these things. Many have been discussed in the forums here. Members know their stuff and are willing to share. Garry
  16. Cadman: Never tried White, Glow then the colour before. Will have to give it a try. Thanks for the tip. We also do not use fluid bed for Glow so don't know the results. For the few that we do just use fluffed in a container. Garry.
  17. Use a white base coat under the Glow. You can go from white to glow if head is warm enough, if not you may have to reheat and dip. I sometimes reheat and do a second coat of Glow, seems to work better. Useing Glow over other colours as a base really depleats the original colour. Hope this helps. Garry.
  18. We use #4 Bait Holder Hooks on most of the ones we make. Do use 12# Steelon wire to tie them. Barbs are not a problem with the steelon. Garry
  19. A second coat of CSI clear may give you a gloss finish. May be able to save the painted jigs this way. Just a thought. Garry.
  20. Hook & Hackle prices are good and materials are A OK. Have used them several times for Bucktail, Body Hair Etc. Never a problem and quick ship. Garry.
  21. Anyone using Eagle Claw #570's http://www.luremaking.com/web_deals1.htm On sale in Canadian Dollars Garry.
  22. Cadman: Sounds like a lot of work. Anything we can do to help let us know. Need samples of what we have?? Garry.
  23. Cadman: It sure would make life a lot easier if such a chart was available. Never been able to find a comparison chart. Garry.
