Rico, is that a 2 sided mold? What did you make the molds out of, RTV Silicone or resin or ?
  4. OK guys, I'll give up one of my secrets. Star Anise Oil - 16 oz for $13.09. This stuff is SUPER potent. http://www.wildroots.com/anise-star-oil-16-fl-oz-p-4065.html Now somebody give up the craw scent!
  5. I use the garlic scent from LC. This stuff is strong and goes a long way. About 1 drop per ounce of plastic and it's strong enough to keep the wife away.
  6. If they haven't been coated with epoxy yet try baking them at the lowest setting, 150-200 degrees, in your oven for 3 or 4 hours. After they cool coat them with a good 2 part epoxy. Devcon 2 ton works well and is available at most Wally World stores in the hardware department. I use 2 part finish epoxy that's left over from my model airplane days. Let the epoxy cure for 2 or 3 days until you can't dent it with a thumbnail. At that point it's ready to pour!
  7. I just measured my mold at 11/32" at the widest point. The depth should be real close to the same measurement.

Kelly, shoot me an email joel@bigpiglures.com
  9. The head is almost 3/8" thick. Should work well on a jighead, lots of action.
  10. Here's the secret recipe for Zoom's Green Pumpkin: 4 oz plastic 16 drops MF Watermelon Brown 4 drops LC Green Pumpkin This is a spot on match.
  11. Borderbasser, if you're in Del Rio, it probably came from me. I have some guys down in So. Texas that asked for the bigger bait specifically. The 6" mold comes from Bob. I don't believe he has them on his website, but you can call him and he'll shoot you one out. I don't remember the price because I ordered a couple molds at the same time, but it seems it was in the $30-$40 range for a one cavity mold. The body isn't deep enough for my liking, so you'll have to overpour the body a bit to get enough meat for hooking it. It's easier to overpour if your plastic is a little cooler. Hotter plastic runs like water and overflows the cavity easier. 6" - 4.2" - 3.5"
  12. Interesting read. Lots of good and not-so-good suggestions. For the naysayers, maybe this will help. Think of the association's seal at a UL Listing. I may buy a blow dryer, but I won't use it in the tub unless it's UL Listed.
  13. I prefer 2-part RTV to cast a master mold of a Sculpey original. If you're using the silicone in a tube, use 100% silicone. The 2 part is a little expensive for alot of master mold making, but it will last for 100's or more pours. Here is a link to a tutorial for using the 100% silicone in a tube. Steps 4 and 5 will help in getting the silicone to set up properly. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/kb.php?mode=article&k=21
  14. Put me on the list!!!
  15. Here's what I do for baitcasters. I put a pencil or pen through the hole in the spool on line and have someone hold it, putting their finger against each side to give it just a little tension. Then I run the line under a phone book. This puts just enough tension on the line that it won't backlash while your reeling it on. Basically, for baitcasters the spool of new line should be spinning. For spinning reels it should come off of one side of the spool, without the spool of new line moving.
