Glad to hear you found what you need. For the reference of anyone else who may stumble across this, I use a 1/16" drill bit for this and it works perfectly fine. I've made a couple hundred jigs like this without incident.
With that said, there's a good chance I'll buy some of that Teflon rod and give it a shot. That's good stuff!
Powder paint does not stick to Teflon which is why it is best for painting. My process for painting any hand pour jigs is to pour with a metal base pin, then wobble said base pin around in the head to create a funnel pattern. Then i use the teflon pins for powder painting.

Here it is you just need to cut it to length.

Matzuo use to make a 1/0 and 2/0 30 degree hook that can be found on Ebay. The other one to look for is the discontinued Mustad 91762 1/0. Alternatively, you can just hand bend some 60 degree hooks.

You always get a few bad ones no matter the manufacturer. What I don't understand is how a reseller that buys a 1k count box and breaks them down into bags did not notice these? If you call them the easiest thing for them to do is just send you a 10 pack of hooks.
As for quality control I do not think Matzuo had anyone or they did a lot of drinking on the job. On average 20% of their hooks I bought were unusable. I am not talking about the normal 90 degree hooks that are at 75 and you can fix them with some pliers. The ones I am referring to look like the pics above or are bent 90 degrees in the wrong direction.

This is the way I do it as well with most skirts. Like Cadman I get some requests for swim jigs with like a 30 strand count.

All the ones I have bought from them are like the bottom pic. It will suck if they quit making them? I can definately find cheaper weedguards but not better ones.

I use this stuff on my spincast machine as well as handpour molds. Lead likes to stick in the funnel area of the metal locking plate and this prevents it.

Why not just use powder paint? The rocky Upper Potomac River is where my jigs get sacrificed and I can say without a doubt powder paint is the best option. Now I do airbrush swim jigs and spinnerbaits to look pretty but jigheads are brown, black, or green pumkin.

You want to use the teflon material that smalljaw recommended from Contenti for pins. As for hooks Mustad makes a light wire hook 32724 that is 30degrees that will work. If they don't make a hook small enough for you then you can hand bend some 60 degree hooks to 30 degrees to fit in the mold.

The only time I have had this happen is when trying to powder coat Owner heads. I suspect they have a lot of tin in them to remain shiny for long periods of time. LPO should be using spincast lead which is like 95% lead mixed with antimony but it still should not melt in an oven.

Heavier weight for the profile size is why I use them. Helps in clear water and river current keeping the bait from rolling.

So the super stainless use to be silver and shiny like the OP mentioned. The wire manufacturer quit making it as I tried to buy some more of it. The new super stainless is brownish in color (Yes I know it doesn't make any sense) and it is what I have been using on my baits. Somewhere around here I still have some of the original frames.
