Glad to hear you found what you need. For the reference of anyone else who may stumble across this, I use a 1/16" drill bit for this and it works perfectly fine. I've made a couple hundred jigs like this without incident.

With that said, there's a good chance I'll buy some of that Teflon rod and give it a shot. That's good stuff!

Powder paint does not stick to Teflon which is why it is best for painting. My process for painting any hand pour jigs is to pour with a metal base pin, then wobble said base pin around in the head to create a funnel pattern. Then i use the teflon pins for powder painting.

    Hello everyone!

Does anybody know what silicon material Zman uses? Specifically on the shroom Z micro jig?  It’s softer than anything I can find very similar to a SK Bitsy bug. They sell skirts but I was wanting different color options.

    THX guys

Isn't it just fine cut silicone like fishingskirts sells?

  3. You always get a few bad ones no matter the manufacturer. What I don't understand is how a reseller that buys a 1k count box and breaks them down into bags did not notice these? If you call them the easiest thing for them to do is just send you a 10 pack of hooks.

As for quality control I do not think Matzuo had anyone or they did a lot of drinking on the job. On average 20% of their hooks I bought were unusable. I am not talking about the normal 90 degree hooks that are at 75 and you can fix them with some pliers. The ones I am referring to look like the pics above or are bent 90 degrees in the wrong direction.

On smaller jigs 1/4 oz and less I use 2 tabs (44 strands). On larger jigs I use 2-1/2 tabs. There are also many customer requests, which I do what they want. Less strands and the jig sinks faster, more strands and the jig sinks slower. Also more strands blow out more in the water which makes it look bigger. The choice is up to you.

This is the way I do it as well with most skirts. Like Cadman I get some requests for swim jigs with like a 30 strand count.

The galleries are ready to roll. Feel free to start uploading your entries at 12 Noon eastern time today!

Oh, and please, please, please DO NOT upload more than one photo per entry.

If you wish to show multiple angles of your entry, please create a collage and upload that one photo. But do not upload multiple images!

Miserable failure so far of this rule.

  6. Why not just use powder paint? The rocky Upper Potomac River is where my jigs get sacrificed and I can say without a doubt powder paint is the best option. Now I do airbrush swim jigs and spinnerbaits to look pretty but jigheads are brown, black, or green pumkin.

  7. You want to use the teflon material that smalljaw recommended from Contenti for pins. As for hooks Mustad makes a light wire hook 32724 that is 30degrees that will work. If they don't make a hook small enough for you then you can hand bend some 60 degree hooks to 30 degrees to fit in the mold.

Just poured a bunch of v shaped titanium weed guards on jigs. Came out great. Problem is titanium is so sharp you get stuck a bunch during handling. Is there any kind of dip I can use to dip the ends in.

I have tried everything I know with bad results. Anybody else have this issue? Suggestions please.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you make the weedguards yourself?

  9. So the super stainless use to be silver and shiny like the OP mentioned. The wire manufacturer quit making it as I tried to buy some more of it. The new super stainless is brownish in color (Yes I know it doesn't make any sense) and it is what I have been using on my baits. Somewhere around here I still have some of the original frames.
