  4. Many years ago I cut the butt of a flipping stick off. It was too long, or so I felt. After that, it was too short and unbalanced. Havn't picked up the rod since. I am just getting into rod building/repair and wanted to resurrect this rod. How'd you guys add length (a few inches) to the butt? Weight is less of a concern at this point cause I can always add a balance kit. However, the length is an issue at it's very ackward trying to flip with a short handle. Thanks in advance. and pics are always nice!
  5. Thanks for the input guys. the D & M is similar but not what I am looking for. I would prefer more of an arky style head. Appreciate teh replies and pics!
  6. Had a skirted bass jig many years ago that had a limber stainless wire coming out of the head with a small willow blade attatched. I thought it was from DAve's Tournament Tackle but might be mistaken? anybody know what I am describing? essentially a flippin jig with a small blade for dirty water. I thought it was caled a flip-n-flash or somthing like that? anybody make something similar or have pics of the old one I am talking about?

  15. I have a bunch out of paper clips. Just took the time to hand bend them and put them in the mold. The mold I put them in is a silicone mold so there is some forgivness on the size.
  16. Try a sharpie.... or I have heard of guys lightly sanding them and spray painting with a good quality spary paint for HD or Lowes.

    cheap mold

Bondo might work....if you have patience and dont mind a mess. I would suggest looking up Poly-Tek out of Pennsylvania. They make a silicone that can be used for inexpensive molds. more importantly, they have a tutorial about "how to make a 2 piece" mold. This process is basically the same regardless of the material used. Tin-sil 60-70 is actuall y the material of polytek's you would want to use. For 30 or 35 biucks you can have George at custom jigs and rigs in New york make a silicone mold for you
  19. There is a guy in LaCrosse Wisconsin that pours a football with a grub keeper. His name is Brad whiteacre with Yank'em Jigs. I dont have his number handy but he lives on 11th st. Look him up and give him a call. He makes a high quality jig. If you are looking for quantities...maybe he will work with you. The grub keeper on his jigs is the wire type (looks like a paper clip). It works better than any lead barb. Again, his jigs are top notch. Generally, he is slow to return emails but his address is...whitacrebrad@yahoo.com
  20. I've been down the bondo road...not a pretty sight. It is very difficult to work with in order to have a quality mold. I will say the items above are good for a bondo type mold. I had a custom silicone mold made by George at Custom jigs and spins...it was a 3 cavity for like 35 bucks. This was a couple years ago. I did find a place that sold the silicone. It is Poly-Tek. They will sell you a trial version (gallon) and will last for about 10-12 molds--maybe more. The price used to be about 140 bucks. They will give you directions and tell you what you need to get started. I make my own with this product now. there is a learnign curve and it can be a little messy but is worth it to be able to whip up a custom mold in an afternoon.
