  3. We went to a laminated bag several years ago. If I remember correctly there was a charge of $150.00 per color for the plates. We have two sizes of bags so it was a little pricey to start off with. Also have to keep in mind the shipping and import fees. The first order we placed was for 50,000 pieces of the smaller bag and 25,000 of the larger bag. The shipping and import fees came up to about $1,900. Wasn't quite expecting that bill! Now we order 200,000-300,000 at a time to bring down the cost per bag. With a label and bag we were paying almost 25 cents now with the laminated bag it's just over 4 cents.

    Injection machine

Helping a friend sell his pie shape mold injection machine. Brand new, never been hooked up or turned on. This machine was built by Color Tech. The price is firm and it includes shipping. Serious inquiries only. For more images and questions please email me at Lloyd@xcitebaits.com. If you are thinking of stepping up to a higher production rate, this is the machine you need. It comes with one swimbait mold. Those of you that know Color Tech know that this is a quality built machine. If I wasn't running vertical molds, I'd buy it myself.
  5. While I can't talk about specifics, I can tell you that as a small company you don't want to get involved with a patent dispute. We didn't own the mold for our Flap Jack, we rented it from another company. The owner of that mold actually told me he had a patent on the bait that was issued before Netbait got theirs. I took him for his word and boy was that a mistake. Being new to patent issues, I didn't understand at the time what was all involved.......I do now. Jim said it very well. Don't just do a Google search, you need to hire a patent attorney if you want to play in this game. Yes, that is expensive but not even close to what it could/will cost you. In the long run, it has made us a better company. We now have our own injection machine (just arrived 2 weeks ago!) and we have 4 new baits coming out in the next couple of weeks.

  11. Yeah, I know I have to throw down some cash but I have come to a point where I almost have to. I have two major chains about to start carrying some of our stuff and they are almost forcing us to get printed bags. If our baits will be hanging next to the big boys, we have to have a good appearance. Peeling labels to put on bags is just not an option anymore, it takes to much time. I was just curious if there were any other places to check before we made the jump.
  12. Does anybody know where to get printed laminated bags? We checked with Johnson Bag. They have a low minimum but the prices are very high. In-Pact Poly has decent pricing but just wanted to see if there is anyone else out there. We need about 50,000-70,000 to start. Thanks, Lloyd
  13. We make a 10" and a 14" worm. You can check them out at www.xcitebaits.com.
  14. If you are using any type of salt, the Presto Pot will scratch no matter what you use to stir. We tried the high temperature spatula but it is a real pain in the rear to clean. For some reason the plastic and glitter sticks to the spatula. We designed something very similar to what Saint has.
  15. We make a soft French Fry, check it out at www.xcitebaits.com. If you want some samples, email me your address at Lloyd@xcitebaits.com
  16. Good news is that I figured it out. I was using MF regular before so this morning I went back to the SS and the problem went away. I poured about 100 7" and 10 1/2" and didn't have a problem. The molds had to be very hot but they came out perfect. Maybe I didn't mention it before but I was also having the same problem with the 10 1/2 trick worm. The reason I purchased this mold was that I couldn't find it from any other manufacturer. I would love to pay $3.00 for 20 of these. I agree with you on the smaller version trick mold but I still want my baits to look right. The fish don't care but I do.
  17. I want to make sure that everyone knows that I am not bashing Del here. Del has been awesome through all of this. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I did try pouring out of my Lee Pot and went straight down the hole. They came out a little better but still had lines running down the worm. Today I am going to try pouring with no salt and at an angle.
  18. Does anybody here have Del's trick worm molds? I purchased the 6 1/4" version and never did get a decent pour out of it. I ended up having dents in the egg sack and small dents at the small end of the bait. The dents in the small end are more like chunks missing in the ribbed part. I have tried everything like using salt, using no salt, pouring at different temperatures from 310-340 in 5 degree increments, pouring at different speeds making sure the molds are really hot. Del made me another set of molds with a larger air vent but that didn't help so I sent them back to him. I exchanged them for a larger 7" version but I am getting the same type of pour out of them. Del has really tried to help but I am very frustrated at this point. I am pouring out of a Presto Pot and stirring like crazy. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Lloyd
  19. Blades and Baits - Do you pay a yearly fee for all of your UPC codes? Do you need one for each type of bait? Thanks, Lloyd
  20. Have any of you looked into UPC codes for your bags?
  21. First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone on this forum. TU has really helped me get started in making my own spinner baits and soft plastics. What an exciting day when you can go out and catch a fish on something you made!!! I have made several different colors of the chopper blade spinner bait and caught many fish with them. I think it is just something different that the fish haven't seen yet. I think the ones I made are 3/8 with a #4 chopper blade.
