I will, but with a fishing line attached. Hahaha
Thanks. I painted it so long ago I forget how it swims, and it's sink rate, so I'll be water testing it today.

Beautiful!

Really beautiful!

Beautiful! You are an artist.

More pumpkinseed cranks, this time with the turquoise applied with an airbrush over mesh. The fat one on the left has already caught a bunch of fish.

Another set of pumpkinseed, with the turquoise spots applied by hand with a brush.

A bluegill swimbait I painted a couple of years ago, and then proceeded to put it in a Plano box and forget about it. It's back in the boat, getting ready for a swim next time out. I have several more of the blanks that I'm going to do in the darker pumpkinseed color scheme. Those will be my next paint project.

Very nice! I'd take yours over the rapala any day...
Thank you for the kind words. I haven't taken them swimming yet, so I don't know if the fish agree with you.

My attempt at matching a Rapala pumpkinseed, which is in the middle. Two different versions. The 1.5 has a turquoise side, with a dark blue black back and accents, and the 2.5 has the dark blue black sides and back, with turquoise accents. Both have a gold/transparent orange belly. Top coat is Rustoleum X2 Gloss Acrylic, with a final coat of pastel fixative to dull down the gloss. Gill details are sharpies and paint dotted with a tooth pick.

Thanks Big Epp.

I fish the CA Delta, which has lots of grass and tules. I think the wacker weedguard comes through both grass and tules as well or even better than a fiber weedguard. I don't fish too much wood or rock, other than the levees, so I can't comment on how it works there.

No fair! You clearly know how to paint!!!
Beautiful, like all of your paint jobs.

I am scratching my head, trying to figure out how you did it. Nice Job!

Many years ago I made these reverse joint swimbaits to see if they swam better with the V in the front of each section. They didn't. They didn't swim at low speeds. But I painted them up and gave them to my mother-in-law when she asked me for some of my baits. She died last July, and the picture box with them mounted in it came back to me. Vodkaman Dave might remember this little experiment.

Two more 3 1/2" 18 gram ploppers from PVC, plus the repaint of the first one, which is on the bottom.

Not sure about stronger materials, I'm afraid. I've been tweaking the model for a while to get it to take a through wire. I figure that material strength is irrelevant when using a wire that goes all the way through. Would you like the 3D model when I've figured it out?
Thanks, but no thanks. I am just a popcorn eating bystander when it comes to 3D printing. Your stuff is fun to look at. Thanks.

3 1/2", 18 gram whopper plopper I made yesterday, painted and top coated today. It swims/plops really well, and I can easily throw it on a baitcaster. It's supposed to be a sexy shad, but I shot some peridot over the light brown back, to give it a green/gold cast. My hands are reminding me why shaping smaller baits is a pain. Hahaha

That looks too real! Great job!

Well, as in I'm doing much better, and well, as in I took the ploppers out for a swim, and the lmb like them. Biggeest is just over four lbs so far. The water's cooling, so I switched to a white bellied troutish paint scheme, and they are eating it, too. It's almost duck season, so they may hit a bird pattern on the big flooded islands where there are going to be duck blinds. I just have to stay out of the way of the hunters. Unfortunately, they are all very good shots, and I know some of them, so I have to be really careful. Hahaha

That is a nice looking bait. Are there stronger materials you can use to get that bait without sacrificing buoyancy?

Four 2.5 cranks with moving ballast, trying to get them to hunt. The top two had 3/4" lips, and just giggled on the retrieve.
The bottom two had 7/8" lips, and they hunt, thanks to Vodkaman Dave.
The are all made from 1" thick Azek PVC trim board that I sanded down to 7/8" for the blanks.
The dots are where I cross bored 1/4" hole, and inserted either 3/8" or 1/2" lengths of 3/16" lead wire for moveable ballast. The 3/8" move more, and seemed to help the lures giggle more, but the longer lip made the hunt.

Thanks Barry. They are fish catchers.
