  1. Never to old for a new addiction. Get some aluminum flashing at lowes or home depot. It works great for a laminate plate and by all means, read the safety post and when you think you have it down, read it again. I still go back and read it every once in a while for a good refresher. Welcome aboard.
  2. Haha, just hold on, this is more like an addiction than a hobby. Welcome aboard.
  3. I used to sell but sold out a few years ago and retired from my day job. Just make what I and a few friends need and am enjoying retirement.
  4. Yup, I have some 3-G plastis from a storage cabinet ( that will tell you how old it is.) and I have had to add a lot of heat stabilizer to it and mix the fire out of it.( hardpack)
  5. Are you coating the mold with a release agent?
  6. I have the basstackle injectors but my first guess would be to replace the o rings or try to draw at a cooler temp.
  7. Soft plastics are generally cheap enough to purchase several packs of different colors so a mixed bag probably won't be a popular seller.
  8. We generally let our baits hang for 24 hours. That has always worked for us.
  9. Thanks for posting. This has been a hot topic for many years on here and should be a must read for anyone getting started in this hobby.
  10. If you are using a small clamp, put one on both the top and bottom of the mold.
  11. No concerns at all. I've been working in plastics for 35 years and pouring plastics for the past 14 and my lungs are still clear.( just had a physical this morning.) Just saying, take all the precautions possible so you can enjoy this hobby.
  12. If you do much pouring, I would invest in a respirator. These company msds sheets are tilted more tward the company than the consumer. (They are in business to make money.) Also tell yourself, if this leaves a film on surfaces around my work area after pouring a few hours, what's it leaving in my lungs?
  13. This is sound advice. 10% excise tax is charged for any items you manufacture. Also remember that any finished product is taxable as saleable items and inventory tax is due while raw materials are a tax write off.
  14. And remember to always write down your measurements so you can duplicate the color, colors, and shades that you prefer.
  15. I have both sizes of the basstackle injectors. I also have the blending block and connectors ro do the laminates. I like the locking pin as a safety precaution so that's why I went with them instead of Do-it.
  16. Yeah, I think I would pay the freight on that.
  17. Unless you can find a small fry daddy and install a cock valve on the bottom, I don't know of any commercial equipment.
  18. If you are having trouble centering the stream, find a Lee's pot to try pouring with. (Haha, some of us older guys aren't so steady these days.)
  19. Post a pic. Someone on here will be able to help you out.
  20. Haha, Buffalo Trace is a better bourbon. All kidding aside, try carolina pumkin, yellow, and darken with black until you get tha shade wanted. Good luck.(and cheers to the fish.)
  21. Worm oil is mso and used in scents, softeners, and is a by product of plastisol.( that's what I have been told)You shouldn't have any problems remelting it.
  22. I always add after heating. Some glitter is not very heat tolerant and will bleed into the plastisol. If you are using glitter from a craft store it is probably plastic and will melt along with the plastic.
  23. It depends on how many molds you are shooting at a time. When I shoot during the winter I use 6 molds so after the first 2 rounds, my molds stay warm enough I don't usually have a problem. If you are doing open pour, it may be beneficial to keep them heated as open molds cool faster than injection molds.
  24. Heat stabilizer will help. Add a few drops before reheating and stir a few times. Hope this helps
