  1. Felt almost normal this morning.  I'm really looking forward to a productive week in the shop, and maybe even an afternoon or two out on the river.

  2. Sorry to see you go.  There have been a few things happen here that I disagreed with, and one or two things that were just plain wrong, but there are a lot of good people here.  On all the forums there are some, but there are more knowledgeable people on this forum that are willing to share than any other I know of.

  3. I've done it.  I'm completely invested in mold making now.  I sold the recurring revenue accounts from my contracting company and have been telling customers for the last year that December 31st 2016 is my last day as a contractor.  After 23 years its a bit worrisome, but I look forward to being able to turn my cell phone off at night or take a vacation longer than a three day weekend.  I'm so freaking "short" right now I can feel the ground without reaching down.

I've gotten to really enjoy making stuff in my shop.  Custom molds will always be my first priority, but I've already got customers in other areas reaching out to have me make custom parts for them.  I guess I kinda knew that would happen.  That's why the name of the company is:

I've made a few slide bar molds in the past for my own use, but I spent all day the day before yesterday making test cuts to try and find a better way to do them.  I've afraid the overall chore of setting up a slide bar in a mold is always going to be a bit tedious, but I've worked out a couple methods for setting up, dialing in, and clamping to make it come out consistently.    You want a slide bar mold?  Sure.  It cost more, but if you want it I'll be glad to make it for you.

Want me to make a custom mold for you?  Use the contact form on my website.  http://cncmolds.com/webstore/contact-us.html  After that lets keep all the details in email back and forth.  That way I can go back and check what was written to make sure I get it right for you when I am working on your project.

  4. I respond quickly to customers, but I don't answer the phone. Its not because I think I am too good to talk to people. Its because I am bad at switching from making molds to schmoozing people. I am a one man shop, and I intend to remain a one man shop. I don't plan to hire somebody to answer the phone. I just want to work at my computer doing designs, and in my shop making parts. I respond quickly to emails and contacts from customers, but its when I can FOCUS on their needs.

  5. THEY'RE HERE!!! After almost six months my two new X5 Speedmaster Mills are here.

I spent all day yesterday unloading and uncrating them. They made it to the floor of the shop about 4:00 in the afternoon. Today I am cleaning up and making room for where I want to put them. I've thrown away about half a dumpster full of old, but good spare alarm panels so far. I'm gonna have to stop soon. The dumpster doesn't get emptied again until Wednesday.

And still not powered up. I decided to setup an airconditioned machine room in my shop to make cutting molds all day long a more pleasant work experience. The first thing I had to do was move all the new machines out of the way.

Power wire is mostly run. Just the heavy stuff from the sub to the main now. I want to add some cable for analog and IP cameras, and then we will start insulating and hanging drywall.

  6. Supposedly I have two new X5 Speedmasters on the truck headed my way.

Of course its a bit questionable since I was told they were ready to ship on the 9th. Its now the 22nd.

  7. Am I a better mold maker than everybody else. No. I don't think so. I just have a different approach. It may be the right approach for your project.

  8. I do almost exclusively custom work. I don't do blatant knockoffs.

  9. In case you haven't noticed. I've thrown my hat in the ring. I am now making custom molds for people and let it be known publicly.

Could be, but look at the senko. When Gary first made it he could hardly give them away. In a weak economy I wonder if its possible to get a no demnd can be met bait.

I was thinking... the next beaver or the next chatterbait. Something that is going to light up the industry for a while. You really think that kind of rush/slaes is possible with things as weak as they are?

I wish I had something to throw out there and find out.

  11. Thanks for the assistance. I really appreciate it.
