    Lee Pot

Also, if you get the lead too hot and the mold also too hot you run the risk of taking the temper out of the hooks which will result in lost fish for sure.
  2. You can sit the handle of your needle nose pliers ( that you use to remove the hot jig from the mold) along side the mold. This will give you enough support for the hook to rest on and works for me..,.
  3. I have 3 RCBS Pro Melts that have served me well for 20+ years. Have conservatively pored more than 500,000 jigs of various sizes through them without a problem other than a yearly cleaning of the pot. I recently had 2 of them rebuilt by RCBS. New pots, new stems, new rheostats, and new heating elements for $100 each pot. You just can't beat these pots............
  4. just a tiny drop of Loctite gel on the base of the weedguard is all that you need.
  5. I placed an order recently with LPO and received the order in 2 days with no shipping charges....... Lure Parts Online gets my business.......
  6. Gorilla Glue Super Glue will not clog the tip as will Loctite Super Glue. However, Gorilla does not make a gel super glue that I am aware of. Gorilla Super Glue is the best around for gluing grub bodies (Chompers, Yamamoto's etc.) on jig heads. Applicator will not clog.
  7. For old line stripping just take the cardboard roll from used up toilet paper roll. Slip it on your drill chuck and strip away. Toss roll and line in trash or recycle bin.
  8. My take on Worth swivels is that they are a great product with one exception. I am having trouble with the split rings on these swivels. They are too light for the size 4 willowleaf blades that I use on 3/4 oz spinnerbaits. I find that after using them for a few hours either the blade and swivel will detach from the frame or the blade will detach from the swivel. I am very careful with closing the bend on the wire frame and know that not to be the problem. Otherwise, I like everything about these swivels including the price compared to Sampo's. Have no experience with Lakeland's.
  9. Lowrance Electronics suggests 50/50 mix of isopropal alcohol and distilled water sprayed on a cloth and then wipe the screen. I had problem with spray can of sun screen misting on the screen. This mix took that off when nothing else would. Lowrance said that sun screen and bug spray are the worst
  10. I have a Lamiglas rod that has its reel seat come loose from the rod blank. With a reel seated, the reel will turn to the left about 30 degrees from center of the rod shaft. Need advice on what fixes might be available to remedy this. Know nothing about rod construction so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dick
  11. Don't forget about the "Friendly IRS". Make sure that you seperate your business from your personal finances as the IRS will do everything they can to call your "Business" a hobby. You will have to prove that you are in it to make a profit. Make sure you keep all receipts and other records and make sure that you open a business checking account to keep things seperated. Good Luck and "Get Ur Done"
  12. I ask for Harry at Shorty's a while back and they said he was no longer there. Don't know if he retired or what but he had a vast knowledge of all things pertaining to hooks. He is/will be missed. Dick
  13. I'm not overly impressed with the Do-It Screw Loc inserts. The shank on them is not long enough and because of that the screwloc does not reach far enough into the mold (football) to anchor firmly when molding the heads. The screw loc will most of the time be loose in the head of the jig. Hopefully, Do-It will do a redesign with a longer shank of some kind as a remedy. Dick

  15. Molded a couple dozen Poison Tail jigs. Painted using powder and then baked for twenty minutes. Finish on these were excellent. Used Devcon 2 Ton to seal the eyes. Because Devcon has such a short working time I decided to use Gel Super Glue for the weedguards instead of Devcon. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!! It seems that the vapors from the curing process of the Super Glue has basically ruined what was a great powder paint job. It has left a film of some kind on the paint job that has dulled the finish. Very disappointing to go through the steps and have them basically ruined at the end. Good lesson learned............ Dick
